Business Student Organizations

Actively participate in at least one business student organization during your college career. Through your college’s student organizations, you can learn about your major, find internships, gain leadership and practical business experience, and hang out with people who have the same interests as you!

College Council

The Business College Council acts as the governing body for all student organizations of the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. We organize and sponsor student events, network with several top companies, act as the primary liaison between the students, faculty, and administration of the Warrington College of Business, and volunteer our time in the Gainesville community.

The Florida Students of Accounting Council is part of the campus-wide Board of College Councils. The Council serves as a liaison between the accounting students and faculty. It sponsors professional and social programs for the benefit of accounting students and participates in projects that serve our community.

Honorary

Beta Alpha Psi is an honorary organization for Financial Information students and professionals. The primary objective of Beta Alpha Psi is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field. This includes promoting the study and practice of accounting, finance and information systems; providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.

Beta Gamma Sigma is the national scholastic honor society in the field of business administration. To be eligible for membership a student must be ranked in the top ten percent of his/her junior or senior class and meet certain course residency requirements.

Service & Leadership

ASTRA (Ability, Service, Training, Responsibility, Achievement) is a service organization that is sponsored by the Warrington College of Business and the Altrusa Club of Gainesville. We participate in service projects in the Gainesville community, a high need area, that may be overlooked for broader issues. Members can also explore their passions and interests through the variety of events we offer. Scholarships are awarded every semester to dedicated volunteers.

The Heavener International Programs Student Ambassadors (IPSA) are undergraduates who have studied abroad and now wish to inform, encourage, and inspire their peers to have their own transformational experience abroad. The IPSAs assist the International Programs staff in the promotion of the School’s study abroad and exchange programs, while also serving as mentors to peers who are interested in studying abroad. The Student Ambassador program provides its members with the opportunity to enhance individual skills in interpersonal communication, public relations, advertising, public speaking, and writing. Students develop meaningful relationships within the program, enabling a close team approach to IPSA activities and outreach.

The Microfinance Foundation at the University of Florida gives students the unique ability to use knowledge from their academic pursuits to effectuate real change in the world. We are dedicated to promoting sustainable development projects in some of the poorest nations on the planet. We offer students a variety of ways to get involved. These include multi-disciplinary research forums on the field of Microfinance, advocating and sponsoring courses on Microfinance, hands on work with partners around the world, and fundraising to increase the loan portfolios of our partner organizations. Microfinance, or the lending of microloans, has proven to be one of the most effective ways to stimulate local economies and pull individuals out of poverty. The Warrington Diplomats are a highly motivated and committed group of students who are selected through a competitive application process by the Heavener School of Business in the Warrington College of Business. To be considered for a Diplomat position, students must have attained junior or senior status with a minimum 3.3 UF GPA.

Mentorship

Business Undergraduate Mentorship Program (BUMP) focuses on developing the holistic student by creating opportunities for students to develop academically, professionally, and personally.

Career & Peer Mentors (CAP) provide undergraduate business majors with guidance and support in all facets of academic and professional development necessary for finding a internship in their career field.

Major & Academic

The University of Florida student chapter of the American Marketing Association is one of the largest student organizations on campus. AMA welcomes students of all majors and classifications.

The Association for Information Systems is the official organization of the Master of Science in Information Systems and Operations Management program at the University of Florida. Although membership consists primarily of graduate students, we welcome all UF students who are interested in the career opportunities provided through the combination of business and technology. Our mission is to best prepare our members to successfully enter the job market, to supply information concerning the many career paths available to them, and to provide exclusive opportunities to meet with top employers. We do this through professional development seminars, information sessions with employers and the recruiters for Fortune 500 companies, and a bi-annual mixer.

The Collegiate Sales Academy (CSA) was created to elevate the perception of professional selling at the University of Florida by creating and enhancing the opportunities available to students interested in sales. The CSA works to help students develop the skills necessary to be successful in professional selling, as well as help those interested in sales secure internships and jobs in the field. Entrepreneurship Collective (Ranked #1 Student Organization of 2014-2015) actively creates an environment where you can come with the aspirations of becoming a business owner, to developed ideas, to operational businesses. We actively search for the best role model entrepreneurs to come speak to you, while hosting pitch competitions, road trips, and overall exposing you to the local entrepreneurial community. An example of one large event we always attend is the CEO Conference Pitch Competition/Conference in the Fall semester. What is unique about our organization that you won’t see at any other club is that people will come from all over to be at our meetings. We have students from UF at the undergraduate, graduate, and PhD level to even Santa Fe students who make the drive over. To business owners, investors and non-locals who will come out. The Florida Financial Management Association was established to serve as a primary resource for those interested in managing their own finances, as well as those interested in careers in financial/wealth management. Some of the topics covered are building credit, investment, savings/retirement accounts, and foreign exchange. Furthermore, FFMA strives to transcend the typical barriers of a classroom setting by offering interactive discussions, presentations, interesting guest speakers, and networking opportunities for its members. Furthermore, FFMA works to advance the professional development and financial literacy of all members.

The Gator Student Investment Fund (GSIF) gives students the unique opportunity to apply classroom concepts to real world investing. Selected students will act as money managers and work on sector teams to analyze securities and develop comprehensive reports for trading decisions. Email GSIF for more information.

The GatorTech is a community of students interested in technology. You will learn more about current topics in technology, join projects with your peers to get tangible experience, and get connected with recruiters and internships in IT. Students from any major and background are encouraged to come!

Pi Sigma Epsilon is a co-ed sales, marketing, and management fraternity open to all years and majors. PSE is focused on growing students through professional and personal development opportunities.

The mission of the UF Real Estate Society is to actively create, support and enhance the academic experiences and pre-professional opportunities for students involved in the UF Program in Real Estate.

The Retail Society works to develop a strong networking system for those who are interested in seeking internships and careers in retailing. This is achieved through constant contact with knowledgeable, experienced students and via information sessions which allow recruiters to discourse on their companies and opportunities.

Student Finance Group focuses on finance and provides networking opportunities for finance and other business majors. The organization hosts a speaker series that features business finance professionals, coordinates mentoring opportunities with graduate students, provides information and activities related to professional development, engages in community service, and offers students interested in finance the chance to take part in finance-related competitions.

The Student Investment Club (SIC) gives students at the University of Florida the chance to get hands on experience investing their money in the stock market with a group of their peers. SIC is open to students of any major and no prior investing experience is necessary. Students do not have to invest any money to be a member of the club.

Students must apply, interview, and be selected for admission into the Finance Honors Program at the University of Florida. The department and the College jointly award the designation of Warrington Finance Scholars to those students who successfully complete their first semester within the program.

The UES was formed to provide students interested in furthering their understanding of the field of economics a forum in which to gather and discuss national and world events. The UES is not limited only to those majoring in economics but is open to all students interested in the field.

Multicultural & Diversity

The Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) is a national professional organization dedicated to develop better opportunities in business professions such as accounting and finance. Students may benefit from networking with top professionals and sponsors such as KPMG, PWC, and other key companies in the financial industry.

The Black Student in Business (BSiB) is an organization founded on the principle that in order to truly encourage diversity, we must encourage inclusivity. We are dedicated to providing professional development and networking services to the community of future black business professionals. Our organization hosts a wide range of guest speakers, workshops, and socials to foster a unique cultural perspective and offers a diverse experience. Diversity in Banking and Securities is established for the purpose of building a community of diverse UF students interested in pursuing internships and careers in banking, by giving Gators of all backgrounds the necessary means and resources to excel in the field.

Florida Women In Business (FWIB) is a professional development organization that gives women the tools to succeed and break down barriers in college and beyond. Our vision is to empower women in a supportive environment and provide each member a unique experience. For example, our Mentor/Mentee program offers you a one-on-one relationship with a veteran FWIB member whose goal is to help you find your passion and be an advocate for your success. We also offer various committees that help you develop your strengths. Finally, we have inspiring speakers from prominent companies and the community who will offer their personal experiences and advice. Global Business Society’s mission is to promote interest in international affairs and business topics among the UF student body. GBS is a great way for International Students (UF students as well as visiting exchange students) to get involved and actively contribute to an organization on campus.

The Latin American Women in Business is best described as an organization that is dedicated to the professional development, relationship building, and personal growth of Latin American women that aspire to work in the business sector.

General Business Organizations

Actualize is an organization that promotes the use of Emotionally Intelligent behavior to help students discuss and question their beliefs, values, and motivations in order to live a more purposeful personal and professional life.

The Florida Business Leadership Society (FBLS) is a club for emerging student leaders that want to enhance their knowledge of all industries in business. FBLS looks to foster a sense of social and interpersonal expertise among members while developing a professional attitude, leadership skills and insight in the various fields of business. Many of our meetings include corporate speakers who lead presentations on their company and explain available internship opportunities. FBLS meetings also offer numerous opportunities to strengthen networking skills among peers and professionals. The organization takes part in various community service projects and social events each semester. Large events include the FBLS Student Opportunity and Achievement Retreat (SOAR) and the Faculty-Student Luncheon.

The mission of Innovative College Executives (ICE) is to empower future business professionals to excel through leadership, networking, community outreach, ethics, professionalism, and expertise in the American free enterprise system. Our organization centers around offering case study events and leadership programs that aid in career development.

Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate division of Future Business Leaders of America. We are not a greek organization, but an equal opportunity organization that seeks the interest of students who have a curiosity in business and/or business-related fields. We help students develop leadership and networking opportunities in a university setting as well as within the Gainesville community so that they will benefit as productive and efficient citizens. The PBL executive board, with its committee chairs, delegate work to all members so that everyone participates. We strive for each member to mature into a Future Business Leader of America.

The Undergraduate Consulting Club (UCC) serves as a key resource for undergraduates considering a career in consulting. We educate and prepare our members for future careers in consulting by providing resources, training and connections to top companies. Learn more at their Facebook page.

Warrington Book Club was founded in 2020 by a group of individuals dedicated to sharing their passion for business. Based in the Warrington School of Business, we are an active and enthusiastic Book Club with events and activities taking place year-round. We like to keep up the energy and excitement, always welcoming new members to take part. Simply put, we love getting together to do what we love: reading and leading.

Warrington Goes Green is an environmental sustainability organization that focuses on the intersect between business and sustainability. WGG provides students the opportunity to learn from guest speakers, participate in sustainable activities, and network with the intention of sparking change in the individuals, Warrington, and businesses worldwide that hire UF students.
