Heavener School of Business advisors can help you figure out your degree requirements and minor requirements, change your major, discuss dropping a course, choose your classes, and provide you with valuable career advice. We’ve even created an advising syllabus which outlines our mission, expectations, and activities that you should undertake from freshman to senior year.
There are multiple ways to connect with an Academic & Career Advisor:
Drop-in advising (either virtual or in-person): Use this method to have a same-day, 5-10 minute meeting via Zoom or in-person with an Academic & Career Advisor.
Possible topics include: questions about your degree or minor requirements, one-semester academic plans, discuss dropping a course, choosing your classes, or assistance with registration
Advising appointment (either virtual or in-person): Use this method to have a 30 minute meeting via Zoom or in-person with an Academic & Career Advisor. During peak times (e.g., drop/add) appointments are only available for students on probation or students who want to change into a major within the Heavener School of Business.
Email advising: Send us an email to receive specific feedback related to your inquiry within 1-2 business days without having to schedule a meeting with an Academic & Career Advisor.
Group advising information sessions: Topic-specific sessions are scheduled to review policies and processes of many commonly requested information items.

Heavener peer advising: Exclusively for first-year business students
If you need to speak with an Academic & Career Advisor same-day, your best option is to do a drop-in advising session, either virtual via Zoom or in-person in 333 Heavener Hall. Drop-in sessions are 5-10 minute long meetings with you and one of the Academic & Career Advisors on-call at the time of your session (you do not choose your Advisor). During peak traffic periods (drop/add week) we offer virtual drop-in advising Monday – Friday. During non-peak traffic periods we offer virtual drop-in advising Monday – Thursday.

To receive specific information within 1-2 business days without having to schedule a meeting with an Academic & Career Advisor, please email advising questions to our advising inbox. Be sure to use your GatorLink email address, include your UFID in your message, and provide the advisor with your specific questions and any necessary context information. Our goal is to answer all emails within 2 business days, however, there may be a delay. If your question(s) cannot be adequately resolved via email, an advisor will recommend you come to drop-in advising or call to schedule an appointment.
The Heavener Peer Advisors (HPAs) are a dynamic group of experienced, business upperclassmen highly trained to provide First-Year Business Gators with academic advisement and transition support in the Heavener School of Business (HSB) at the University of Florida.
