Next Practices Live with Dorothy Okello

Regulators and utilities across the globe are using Next Practices Live to share insights across sectors and countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have benefitted from insights from leaders in regulation and industry, as well as internationally known consultants.

We recently hosted Dr. Dorothy Okello, chairperson of the Uganda Communications Commission, as part of our series. I have known Dr. Okello for several years. She shared what she and the UCC are doing to help Uganda through the pandemic. She and I discussed the steps the UCC is taking, how the UCC and service providers are helping customers, how the UCC is monitoring the financial health of telecom companies, and how she and others are providing leadership for working across government and industry.

You will learn a lot from Dr. Okello. She is Dean of the School of Engineering at the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT) at Makerere University, and a Researcher with netLabs!UG, a telecommunications and networking research centre within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, CEDAT. She is also Director of Innovation at ResilientAfrica Network at Makerere University School of Public Health.
