Walgreens Makes History Appointing New CEO

Roz Brewer, former COO at Starbucks, has been appointed as Walgreens new CEO, effective March 15. Brewer will be the only Black female currently leading a Fortune 500 company, and only the second Black female CEO in the history of the Fortune 500. Her previous leadership roles at some of the world’s most innovative, impactful, and high-performing corporations have well prepared her for this position. Walgreens continues to foster a diverse and inclusive organization, and this historical appointment will allow to company to continue driving innovation and positively impacting the lives of many.

Retail Systems and Management Presentation

Tom Goden

Tom Goden, Director of Pharmacy and Retail Operations for NW Florida, spoke to the Retail Systems and Management class via Zoom this week. He discussed how omnichannel retailers have the advantage in driving company strategies, like customer loyalty programs. He guided students on a tour of the Walgreens app and answered questions related to curbside pickup, in-store developments, as well as the company’s role on Covid 19 immunizations. Additionally, he proudly announced about Walgreens’ new CEO, Roz Brewer, who will fulfill the position this March.
