Frequently Asked Questions

Application and Admissions

Do you offer conditional admission?

Yes, on a case by case basis after the committee review process has been completed. All applicants must apply fully to the MSM program and may not take MSM classes unless they are officially admitted to the program.

Can I receive admission to the MSM program if I have more than 2 years of work experience?

Yes. The classroom curriculum, discussions, assignments, and career workshops within the program are tailored to students who have received their Bachelor degrees within the past two years. However, if you have more than 2-3 years of post-bachelor’s degree work experience, we suggest you also research the UF MBA programs. For many applicants,
MSM is a better fit than MBA. MSM graduates who do have professional experience can expect more substantial job offers upon graduation due to prior experience.

Do you allow deferred admission? That is, can I defer my admission from one year to another?

A student may defer up to one calendar year from the term that they received admission. Deferment past one year requires that the applicant re-apply to Graduate School and the MSM program.

What if I am not accepted? Can I re-apply?

Students who are denied may reapply if they so choose. Usually they do so only if information or test scores change from their original application package. Transcript information is unlikely to change if it was submitted after graduation from a bachelor’s degree. Students who do wish to reapply must resubmit all of their materials through the Graduate School application process and send new a test score if applicable. Old materials are moved to storage and are not easily accessible.

I want to “walk-in” and talk about the program. Can I come in anytime?

We love to meet with students and welcome further discussion about our MSM program. We accept walk-ins generally from Monday – Friday between 10 AM and 3 PM. However, there are times when we are unavailable so we encourage appointments so that you can review the website, bring specific questions and guarantee that a representative is in the office and available to meet with you. We encourage students to attend live or online information sessions to have an opportunity to gather more information and meet staff and MSM ambassadors.

I want to apply to the Combination Option. Do the grades from the graduate business courses count towards my undergraduate GPA?

Yes. All graduate business coursework grades taken while an undergraduate will count in your undergraduate GPA. This includes ‘double-counted’ courses taken toward both the bachelor’s/master’s degree as well as courses that are only counting toward the master’s degree.

Does the MSM program accept students who are participating in Employee Education (UF Employee Education Program (EEP)/State Agency Employees)?

For the on-campus format, we accept students who are participating in the employee education (UF Employee Education Program (EEP)/State Agency Employees).

For the online format, we do not accept students who are participating in the employee education (UF Employee Education Program (EEP)/State Agency Employees). The Warrington College of Business has the ability to limit the number of online specialized masters students participating in the EEP due to its distance education format. In response to high levels of demand, EEP applications to these programs are not currently being accepted.

See: UF Employee Education Program (EEP) and Office of Registrar: Employee Education

Does the MSM program require the GMAT or the GRE?

No. As of June 2021 a GMAT/GRE test score is not required.
