Tips I Wish I Knew id="tips"

If you are interested in pursuing a career in a certain field, get involved with a student org to see if it’s something you really want to pursue.

Olivia Kenningham
President, BCC

One piece of advice I would give is: start early. Get involved early and recruit early in order to have the highest chance of landing your dream job.

Alexandra Vives
VP of Programming, BCC

Plan your classes ahead of time. This will allow for less stress and give you time to choose which professor is best for you.

Anyeli Pro
SVP, BCC

Get out of your comfort zones and start trying out new things! Recruiters like to see that you’ve worked on your personal brand and have tried to differentiate yourself from other candidates.

Eleana Pino
VP of Internal Marketing, BCC

Do not be afraid to ask questions. Seek mentorship from other business students and professors that can help you throughout your time in Warrington. These mentors will be pivotal in helping you decide on involvement options, how to start the internship recruitment process, and even what classes to take.

Homar Ali
Director of Warrington Diplomats

Don’t be afraid to go outside your comfort zone and meet new people because that’s where you find your community

Matthew Schull
President of Delta Sigma Pi

Leverage the community of past and present Business Gators that are willing to talk and listen to you if you simply ask and show interest. Speak to fellow students, reach out to that alumni leading a career path your are interested in, take those five minutes to ask your professor about their life and career. The best way to learn more about yourself and the world is through others.

Taylor Smellie
FLA Chief of Staff

Get to know upperclassmen and learn from their experiences. People are very willing to offer advice, support, and encouragement!

Hannah Peters
President of Business Ethics Ambassadors

If you’re a diversity candidate (POC/woman) apply to all diversity opportunities, especially finance ones. They’re pretty easy to get and can land you all-expense-paid trips to headquarters and scholarships.

Olivia Giraldo
President of UF Student Investment Club

Black/African American students interested in Fintech: google ‘Fintech In Action.’ Apply.

Jordon Neal

You don’t have to know exactly what you want to do. I stressed so much about figuring out exactly what career path I wanted all throughout freshman year, but I now realize with time and with gaining experience within the business school and through internships, my path will become clear.

Carlyn Russell
VP of External Marketing BCC

Don’t feel pressured to join the biggest and most well- known clubs. Some of the smaller clubs offer even more leadership opportunities and can make a huge impact on your college career. Get involved early because it is your best form of experience before you get an internship. You can also find friends early on and better understand what career you want to pursue.

Chrissy Keller
President of Global Business Society
