Exchange Program: National Chengchi University

National Chengchi University (NCCU) is located at the foot of Chih Nan Mountain in the south of Taipei City, with the Chingmei River in the west, creating a beautiful and tranquil learning environment. Apart from the Mu-Cha site, NCCU has also established two branch campuses in urban Taipei: The Public & Business Administration Education Center on Jinghua Street and the Institute of International Relations on Wanshou Road.

The School

National Chengchi University, founded in 1927, consists of eight colleges. It remains proud of its ethical foundation and its commitment to serving society. The College of Commerce prides itself on its commitment to research and a focus on entrepreneurial excellence. It is one of the most respected business schools in Asia and believes in integrating theory and practice into its business education.

The City

Taipei is a large capital city nestled in a valley surrounded by mountains. It has a population of over 2 million and it is the business and cultural center of Taiwan. The seaside is less than one hour away in three different directions. Taiwan enjoys warm weather all year round, except for a few mountain areas where traces of snow can be found in the winter months. Bring an umbrella; March to May is the rainy season!

Courses Available

Courses in English as part of the International MBA program (IMBA). In spring term, good selection from Law, Finance, Strategy, and Corporate Cooperation & Governance.

Languages

The IMBA at NCCU is the first and only business Master’s program in Taiwan taught entirely in English. The predominant languages around school and in city are Taiwanese, Mandarin , and English. The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin (Chinese). English is the most popular foreign language for the Taiwanese and it is regular part of school education.

Grade & Credit Conversion

Credit and grading scales are exactly equivalent to the U.S. system (100 point scale with 70 being minimum passing).

Minimum Credit Requirements

Average credit load is: 12 credits. No minimum or maximum credits set by NCCU.

Estimated Costs

Approximately TWD 120,000* (~$4,000) per semester for housing, food, transportation, books, etc.

Taiwan Dollar.

Accommodation

School has two residence halls on campus but they are quite inadequate. There are privately-owned student residence facilities in the city center; prices are moderate. On campus, rooms are single with a sink- bathroom is shared with one other person. The school can assist students in finding an apartment within the city.

Travel Opportunities

The campus site in Mu-Cha is convenient for visiting the many scenic spots in the Wenshan District; scenic spots near Mu-Cha campus include Chih Nan Temple, the Maokong Tourist Tea Garden, the Tea Museum and the Taipei Zoo.
