Admissions Criteria

When reviewing applications, the Admissions Committee searches for evidence of proven intellectual ability, managerial promise and community involvement. Strong interpersonal skills, communication ability, motivation, maturity, career focus and leadership potential are also important qualities in prospective students.

Applicants must possess a four-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or its four-year international equivalent. In reviewing the academic record, the Admissions Committee considers the caliber of the institution attended, rigor of the curriculum, performance in quantitative courses and record of scholastic achievement.

Given the extensive work experience of Executive applicants, GRE or GMAT scores are not required.

Applicants are required to have a minimum of eight years of work experience with some of it in a management or leadership role. For all applicants, the Admissions Committee is interested in work-related responsibilities and accomplishments, career advancement and potential, managerial or international experience and future career goals.

If you are nearing eight years of professional experience and have lead/managed teams, we welcome you to apply. The Admissions Committee will thoroughly review your application and if you do not meet the Executive program requirements, you will automatically be considered for the Two-Year Professional Program.

MBA requires two professional recommendations to help evaluate prior performance within an organization, appropriateness of the MBA degree and potential for future business leadership. Current and former supervisors provide the best recommendations, as well as anyone else who can speak to your professional abilities. Recommendations should not be submitted by friends, relatives, or former professors. If an applicant knows a current MBA student or alum, they can serve as a recommender by providing a brief endorsement directly to an MBA Admissions representative. Recommenders have a choice of either uploading their own evaluation or they are welcome to use our Common Letter of Recommendation Form.

The applicant’s written essays and personal interview provide opportunities to convey one’s unique background, personality, and ability to add to the diversity of the MBA community. A selection of required and optional essays allows candidates to describe important attributes that are not apparent in other parts of the application. The essays are evaluated not only for content, but also for writing style and grammar.

Candidates may be asked to interview with an MBA admissions representative prior to the Admission Committee’s final decision. Interviews are by invitation only.

A GMAT or GRE score is not required to complete an application for our professional MBA programs (Executive, Online, Weekend Part-Time, and South Florida). However, you may submit a GMAT or GRE score if you feel sharing a test score will make your application more competitive. If a test score is submitted, the admissions committee will use your score as an additional data point for consideration. An applicant will not be penalized if a test score is not provided or if a submitted test score is below the admissions range.

Instead of requiring a test score, the admissions committee will rely on other indicators of ability when reviewing your file, including, but not limited to – career trajectory and professional success, leadership experience, and previous academic performance. We review all applicants holistically and the most competitive applicants showcase strength in all areas.
