Elective courses

Experiential Learning Opportunities (ELOs) id="experiential"

Students in both Weekend Part-Time 1-Year and Weekend Part-Time 2-Year formats complete one experiential learning course, or elective. Examples include on-campus courses, online business simulations, The Washington Campus or a Global Immersion Experience.

The Washington Campus

The Washington Campus is a non-profit, non-partisan, higher education consortium based in Washington, D.C. Students from the MBA program can enroll in The Washington Campus’ certificate graduate courses throughout the year and receive academic credits toward their MBA.

Courses focus on how specific organizations and industries are affected by public policy. Students learn face-to-face from policy makers and executives.

On-campus and online ELOs

Our on-campus and online ELOs give you the opportunity to study topical subject matter. A sample of previous coursework includes the study of Cyber and AI Governance in Business. Online ELOs include interactive, hands-on simulations.

Global Immersion Experience (GIE)

MBA students can register for a 2-credit course that meets in person and online over the course of the semester and includes a 7 to 10 day experience abroad.

Strengthen your understanding of global business by meeting with business executives from various industries. Learn the inner-workings of international companies in the country where they operate. Meet with scholars who study the region’s economy and political climate of the country. Experience cultural highlights of the area, such as the Great Wall in China and mosques in the U.A.E. Recent GIE locations include: Argentina, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, Ireland and China.

AI

With the advent of ChatGPT and other Large Language Models, AI in business has become ubiquitous.

Managers are now tasked with integrating both budgetary administration with AI technology. To manage this new paradigm successfully requires a deep understanding of AI capabilities and limitations.

The AI and Machine Learning courses offered in this program will allow you to understand these technologies and be successful in implementing them.

Academic commitment

Students enrolled in the Weekend Part-Time program are advised to dedicate 15-20 hours per week towards their MBA studies. This range may vary depending upon specific courses and a student’s strengths and experiences.

MBA weekend classes allow you to get all of your lectures live from your professors. Once every four months you will begin a new term. During your Saturday and Sunday sessions you can expect a variety of activities — from lectures, group activities, presentations, case studies, tests, quizzes and finals. You can also expect social activities and study groups after classes.

Building lasting peer-to-peer relationships

The format operates on a lock-step, cohort based system. You start and end with the same group of classmates, allowing you to build strong relationships and a powerful network that will last far beyond graduation. To facilitate your relationship and network building opportunities, we regularly host local social events allowing you to interact with other MBA cohorts.
