Facilitator and Administrator applications will open on Monday, March 4th and will close on Monday, March 25th at 11:59 p.m. The facilitator and administrator information session is Wednesday, February 28th at 7:00 p.m.

Participant

A participant is one of 65 business students selected to participate in a 10-week leadership challenge inspired by Posner and Kouzes’ book – Student Leadership Challenge: Five Practices for Exemplary Leaders. Throughout this leadership journey, participants will discover their values, interests, personal mission statements, and steps for continued development.

Responsibilities (1.5hrs/ week):

  • Attend Orienteering
  • Overnight Retreat
  • Weekly Wednesday HLC Meetings
  • Social
  • Capstone Experience

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate student in the Warrington College of Business
  • Must attend orienteering and the overnight retreat to participate in the rest of the program
  • Business Minor’s are not eligible to apply

Facilitator

A facilitator is a student in the Warrington College of Business that invests 5 hours a week to help facilitate a 10-week leadership development program inspired by Posner and Kouzes’ book – Student Leadership Challenge: Five Practices for Exemplary Leaders. Throughout this leadership journey, facilitators help participants discover their values, interests, personal mission statements, and steps for continued development. In this role, facilitators will develop leadership skills such as; public speaking, facilitation, conflict resolution, adaptability, active listening, non-verbal communication, and more. These soft skills are crucial and applicable in all casual and professional settings. Facilitators will develop the skills necessary to perform their role through training and hands-on experience.

Responsibilities (5hrs/ week):

  • Demonstrate values learned throughout the program to facilitate growth in new members regarding leadership.
  • Collaborate with a team of 15 other facilitators to implement weekly leadership activities for fellow business students that illustrate the curriculum’s five leadership practices.
  • Facilitate a small group’s personal development through reflections and one-on-one sessions.
  • Partner and lead a 1.5 hour long meeting each semester with another facilitator to facilitate discussions, large group activities, and HLC talks in relation to the week’s takeaways.
  • Create and present a 15 to 20 minute TED Talk style presentation once a semester to demonstrate the current week’s leadership practice
  • Lead the Capstone Experience at the end of every semester.
  • Attend HLC Wednesday Meetings and Friday Leadership Team Meetings.
  • Attend Business Bash
  • Attend Participant, Facilitator, and Admin Interviews.
  • Attend the Board of Advisors meeting every Spring semester.
  • Participate in at least 1 HLC recruitment event each semester.

Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate student in the Warrington College of Business
  • Graduated from the Heavener Leadership Challenge
  • Business Minor’s are not eligible to apply

Time Investment:

  • Facilitators are expected to put around 5 hours a week to HLC through the attendance of Wednesday (HLC Meetings) and Friday (Leadership Team Meetings).
  • This number will increase when you are scheduled to co-lead a meeting or give an HLC Talk.

Administrator

The Administration team is a group of student-leaders in the Warrington College of Business that invest 5 hours a week to influence participant and team recruitment, training, morale, inclusivity, and promotion of the 10-week leadership development program inspired by Posner and Kouzes’ book – Student Leadership Challenge: Five Practices for Exemplary Leaders. The team has Directors of recruitment, marketing, diversity equity and inclusion, and engagement.

Roles:

  • Director of Engagement
  • Director of Inclusive Excellence
  • Director of Marketing
  • Assistant Director of Marketing
  • Director of Recruitment

Responsibilities (5 hrs/ week):

  • Demonstrate values learned throughout the program to facilitate growth for the leadership team
  • Collaborate with a team of 4 other administrators to structure, refine, and implement HLC’s weekly processes related to the specific Admin role.
  • Assist at the Overnight Retreat and Capstone Experience at the end of every semester.
  • Attend HLC Wednesday Meetings and Friday Leadership Team Meetings.
  • Attend Business Bash
  • Attend Participant, Facilitator, and Admin Interviews.
  • Attending the Board of Advisors meeting every Spring semester.
  • Participate in at least 1 HLC recruitment event each semester.
