The Jutland Business School, founded in 1939, split in two separate units in 1956, forming what would later become The Aarhus School of Business (ASB) as it exists today in its current location, Fuglesangs Allé. The ASB has since become the second largest university in Denmark and one of Europe’s leading business schools, with over 7,000 students in attendance. An EQUIS accreditation places ASB among the best business schools worldwide and on a par with the London Business School, INSEAD in France, and the University of Washington, USA. In addition to high quality research programs, modern surroundings, and the use of cutting edge technology, students benefit from a strong international orientation. The School

As an international student, the university will warmly welcome you and provide many opportunities to meet and socialize with other Danish and international students. The ASB campus is situated just north of the city center, placing it within walking distance to many of the area’s restaurants, cafes, parks, gardens, theatres, art galleries, shopping centers, and night clubs. In addition to the numerous city entertainment outlets and cultural events, there are also many academic and recreational activities on campus that are available to exchange students.

The City

With a population in excess of 250,000 inhabitants, Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark. It was founded by the King of Denmark around the year 900; a time when Vikings ruled the country. Today, Aarhus is known as the capital of the provinces, recognized for its thriving business and commercial sector as well as the many schools and educational institutions located in the area. The downtown area hosts a mixture of cobbled streets, green parks, old monuments and modern buildings in addition to the Aarhus River, which runs through the city’s center. The river provides a picturesque landscape for patrons of the many intimate cafes that populate the area. In contrast to the pulsating life of Aarhus, the city is surrounded by tranquil nature sanctuaries. Sandy beaches and large forest areas to the north and south of the city provide residents a quiet place to relax.

Courses Available

MIBs take courses at the Odense campus in areas of International Management, Economics & Finance, and European Studies. There are many good English courses from which to choose. International Tourism and Leisure Management courses are available at the Esbjerg campus.

Languages

The language of operation for the university is English, a language that is widely spoken in Denmark, especially among students. A Danish language course is available to exchange students for a small fee.

Accommodation

Single room in private residence halls (not affiliated with the school) available with private bath and shared kitchen (per floor, shared with 10-14 other students). Housing request is part of the on-line application. Rent will not exceed $2250 total for the 6-month term.

Housing scholarships are available for exchange students.

Denmark is located in the heart of Northern Europe, with Germany to the south, Norway to the north, and Sweden to the east. Aarhus is strategically located with world-wide transport links by air, sea and land. Its airport, ports, railway station and well-developed network of roads, make Aarhus an important transport center.
