Committees
Committees provide a special opportunity for mentees to contribute their ideas to enhance FLA, while practicing leadership skills, and strengthening their passion for the program. Committees also enable mentees to develop close relationships with other mentees, Assistant Directors, and the corresponding Director.
Committee members meet with their team frequently and are expected to assist and lead projects, encourage innovation, practice leadership, and exhibit enthusiasm about FLA. Committee recruitment is a selective process within FLA that occurs in the summer. Mentees have the opportunity to apply and interview for a spot on one of the following 4 committees:
Networking Committee

The Networking Committee strengthens the “FLAmily” culture by creating opportunities for members to connect on a personal level. They host a variety of social events throughout the year, bridging the gap between morning and afternoon session participants. Networking events enable FLA members to engage in fun activities while forming new relationships. Additionally, we connect current FLA members with our extensive alumni network through events that highlight alumni careers, post-graduation experiences, and the impact of FLA on their journeys. Committee members gain a well-rounded experience by dedicating one semester to planning and facilitating social events, and the other to organizing alumni-focused initiatives.
Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee unites the “FLAmily” by capturing memories and managing internal and external communications. They maintain FLA’s digital presence, including the website, Instagram, and LinkedIn, while creatively documenting events like Friday sessions, socials, civic engagement opportunities, and recruitment events. This team designs marketing materials such as flyers and merchandise, collaborates with the Recruitment Committee to create content for outreach, and plays a key role in advertising to potential members. They also produce the end-of-year yearbook, as well as videos and slideshows for the FLA Graduation & Induction Ceremony. Members will develop skills in the areas of creativity, teamwork, social media, graphic design, and website upkeep while sharing the story of our FLA community.
Civic Engagement Committee

The Civic Engagement Committee facilitates meaningful opportunities for FLA members to practice servant leadership while learning about themselves and the Gainesville community. The committee brainstorms, develops, and executes volunteer opportunities while building sustainable relationships with local community partners (e.g. GrowHub, GNV Bridge). This committee will encourage students to think outside of the box and determine innovative solutions to challenging problems. Committee members will share their passion for serving the community with everyone in FLA and develop skills in project management, communication, etc.
Recruitment Committee

The Recruitment Committee identifies and attracts a high-caliber applicant pool of first-year students who aspire to develop as future leaders and polished professionals within the Warrington College. The Recruitment Committee plans and executes four major Recruitment Events and also assists with the spring interview process. In addition to these FLA responsibilities, the Recruitment Committee places a strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships. Committee members will share their passion for FLA with prospective members while developing their event planning and communication skills.
