We consider all applicants based on individual experiences and skills. Strong interpersonal skills, communication ability, motivation, maturity, career focus and leadership potential are also important qualities in prospective students.

  • Bachelor’s degree is required:
    All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent as determined by the UF Office of Admission’s evaluation of official transcripts.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative Upper Division GPA:
    US applicants, or applicants who graduated from an accredited US college or university, must have an upper division undergraduate GPA of 3.00 or higher. For non-US applicants, the UF Office of Admission will determine degree equivalency.

It is recommended but not required that students take a programming course as an undergraduate.

English Proficiency Requirements

UF requires proficiency in spoken and written English. Score reports are valid for two years from the date of testing, and must be reported electronically to the University of Florida. UF’s TOEFL and GRE school code is 5812.
