The best part of my job is working with students. I really mean that! Whether it be course planning, identifying and developing strengths, strategizing and goal setting, or navigating campus life, I am a resource to support you on your academic and professional journey.
I graduated with a B.A. in Spanish with minors in French and Secondary Education from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, PA. After obtaining licensure to teach, I spent the next 9 years of my career teaching Spanish to students in grades 6-12! I earned an M.A. in Spanish from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and had the pleasure of studying abroad both as an undergraduate and a graduate student in Seville, Spain and Guadalajara, Mexico, respectively. Due to my spouse’s career path, we relocated to southwestern Virginia and I was unable to find a job as a teacher close to home. My new journey launched within the Department of Biological Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic and State University. I moved from Receptionist, to Academic Advisor, to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs, all within 5 years. I am proof that hard work, resilience, and determination can lead a person to great things! I am passionate about the work that I do with students and the collaborative process.
I came to the Heavener School of Business because I feel strongly that the foundations of academics, international studies, career development, and leadership development are exactly the right formula for creating a rich and meaningful undergraduate experience.
