Scholarship Recipients

The following scholarships are awarded annually on a merit basis. The awards are based on the information contained in the applicant's program application as well as on campus interviews. All students accepted into the Nathan S. Collier MSRE program are automatically considered for these scholarships.

Bergstrom Real Estate Center MSRE Scholarship

These funds are provided by UF Real Estate Advisory Board members, Friends and Alumni members, and others who contribute to this scholarship and graduate assistantship fund.

Nathan S. Collier Scholarship

This annual scholarship is funded by Nathan S. Collier of Gainesville, CEO of The Collier Companies, UF Real Estate Advisory Board member, and provides two rent free 3 bedroom/3 bath luxury scholarship apartments in The Polos for six MSRE students.

Marty and Starr Nass Graduate Scholarship in Real Estate Studies

This endowed scholarship supports awards to recruit outstanding students to the Master of Science in Real Estate programs; preference to non-Florida resident students who have exhibited through past superior academic performance the intellectual attributes to be viewed as “Best in Class” and also demonstrated outstanding leadership skills that differentiated the applicant among his/her peers.

Endowed Scholarships

Dairell J. Snapp Real Estate Scholarship

Alumnus, Mr. DJ Snapp, of North Palm Beach, endowed a scholarship fund for real estate students in 2005. Scholarships will soon be available from this fund.

Dan and Cheryl Dupree Real Estate Scholarship

Mr. Dan Dupree and his wife, of Atlanta, endowed a scholarship fund for real estate students in 2000.

Florida Association of Realtors (FAR) Scholarship

One or two Scholarships of up to $8,000 are available from an endowment created by the Florida Association of Realtors.

Jack Havener Memorial Real Estate Scholarship

A partial scholarship in memorial of Jack Havener to a deserving student with a real estate focus.

Richard Donnellan Real Estate Scholarship

Alumnus, Mr. Donnellan of Boca Raton, Managing Director of Apartment Realty Advisors, established an endowed scholarship fund for real estate students in 2005.

Steve Bernstein Real Estate Scholarship

Steve Bernstein, of Boca Raton, Chairman of SBA Communications, established an endowed scholarship fund for real estate students in 2005.

Other Scholarships Opportunities

The awarding of the following scholarships is not directly controlled by UF's faculty and staff. However, many of our students have received scholarship awards from these sources in recent years.

Appraisal Institute Education Trust Scholarships

The Appraisal Institute Education Trust offers $2,000 graduate scholarships for students with an interest in real estate appraisal. Students should request applications for these scholarships from the Appraisal Institute.

CCIM Institute Scholarship

The CCIM Institute, which offers the prestigious CCIM designation, has typically reserved a $1,000 scholarship, plus complimentary enrollment in the CI 103 Course (tuition value of this course is over $1000), for one of our real estate students each year. CCIM requests the nomination of three students for consideration annually and selects the awardee in the spring semester.

Note: CCIM has notified us that they are not able to offer this scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Florida Caribbean Institute (FCI) Scholarship

The Florida Caribbean Scholarship Program offers out-of-state tuition waivers for qualified Caribbean students to attend any of Florida's public universities or community colleges.

Florida Real Estate Commission Scholarship Program

This scholarship program will provide up to $2,500 per semester for qualified graduate students, is renewable on a semester-by-semester basis, and contingent upon funding. The applicant should express a desire for a career in the real estate industry and need for educational financial assistance while demonstrating an active community service record, pursuing a concentration in real estate at Florida, and meeting Florida residency requirements.

Jackie Tuckfield Memorial Graduate Business Scholarship Fund

This scholarship fund awards $1,000 and $2,000 scholarships to African-American U.S. citizens who are residents of South Florida and enrolled full-time in graduate business degree programs at Florida universities. Applicants must plan to pursue their professional careers in South Florida.

Maury Carter & Associates Undergraduate Real Estate Scholarship from the ICSC Foundation

Advisory Board members Daryl Carter and John Crossman were instrumental in raising the money for the $3000 tuition scholarship, established in honor of Daryl Carter’s father, Maury Carter.

Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Scholarship

PREA scholarships of $500 to $5,000 are available to Master's degree students majoring or concentrating in real estate. Please visit the Pension Real Estate Association or the Robert Tiogo Foundation website for more information.

SIOR/Majestic Realty Co. Scholarship

The Society of Industrial and Office Realtors Foundation and Majestic Realty Co. teamed up to provide this $10,000 Scholarship.

UF Graduate Minority Programs' Scholarships

The UF Office of Graduate Minority Programs spearheads the UF Graduate School's contribution to campus diversity by working for the recruitment, retention and graduation of minority and underrepresented students in master's degree and doctoral degree programs.

It has a two-fold mission:

  • Increasing the number of graduate students from underrepresented ethnic or racial groups: African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Native Alaskans (Aleuts and Eskimos), Native Americans and Native Pacific Islanders.
  • Providing prospective and enrolled graduate students in underrepresented demographic groups with material aid and mentoring to help in their successful pursuit of a graduate school education.

It accomplishes this mission through a variety of programs, services and support initiatives, including:
