In the University of Florida’s MBA program, learning outside of the classroom is just as impactful as the in-class lessons from Warrington’s faculty. In several of the MBA program’s experiential learning opportunities, like the Summit Programs, Insight Series and Rise to Leadership, alumni are bringing valuable industry expertise and a perspective shaped by their time at Warrington to share with current students.

Read how different alumni have given back to the MBA program and invest in a new generation of Business Gators.

Kat Haney, MBA ‘19

Kat Haney (MBA ‘19) is a content marketing manager for Google Cloud. Her professional background blends sales strategy with graphic design expertise, translating complex technical insights into visual narratives.

After spending two years in the Full-Time MBA program, Haney continues to invest in the program’s students through mentorship, offering career guidance and industry insights. Most recently, she hosted a specialized workshop on building impactful presentations for executive audiences.

“Returning to UF campus to host my workshop in the fall was an incredibly nostalgic and full-circle moment,” Haney said. “As an MBA student, I used to look at visiting alumni as the pinnacle of industry expertise. Stepping into that role and being recognized as a thought leader by the current cohort was genuinely surreal.”

Haney shared that engaging with the program also keeps her own skills sharp; not only does she refine her public speaking and storytelling abilities in a teaching environment, but she gains fresh perspectives on recruitment and professional development from the MBA students she mentors and advises.

“I highly encourage it,” Haney said, suggesting other Warrington alumni get involved with the program. “Giving back has allowed me to meaningfully expand my UF MBA network while staying connected to the energy on campus. Presenting workshops and engaging with the students is fulfilling; they are genuinely eager to learn, and it is a privilege to help guide them through the same pivotal stage of life I went through.”

Joseph Arrunategui, MBA ‘21

Joseph Arrunategui (MBA ‘21) currently works at EY as a technology strategy consultant. He has previously worked at Amazon in product management and Oracle in technology sales.

Arrunategui recently hosted the current cohort in the UF MBA Summit Series in Chicago. At the summit, students toured the EY office and watched a presentation on consulting, technology transformation and case preparation. He also regularly participates in coffee chats, reviews resumes and provides mentorship to current students.

“The UF MBA program opened many doors for me, which have now turned into opportunities to achieve personal and professional life goals,” Arrunategui said. “It’s fulfilling to give back to your community, and I want to see the UF and UF MBA brand grow even more across the globe.”

Arrunategui said he finds alumni engagement essential in the Warrington culture and one of the program’s strongest aspects.

All current and future students should know there is an alumni base excited to meet them and help them achieve their professional and personal goals,” Arrunategui said. “It’s for the greater good and the Gator good.”
