FSOAC and Big Brothers Big Sisters Campus Tour

Fisher School of Accounting Council members worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters for a campus tour to show "littles" the two things that impact college life. This tour briefly showed the academic life of a student and the athletics at the University of Florida. (07/10)

Family Fun and Safety Expo Gets Help from FSOAC Volunteers

On June 5th, Council members helped with the Family Fun and Safety Expo at Santa Fe College's North Field. This event raised funds to provide programs to the children of Alachua County Schools. (06/10)

Council Members Assist Peaceful Paths

On May 27th, FSOAC members assisted Peaceful Paths in moving into their new office after their previous office was destroyed in a fire. (05/10)

FSOAC Volunteers with Weekend Hunger Backpack Program

Fisher School of Accounting Council members volunteered numerous weekends for the United Way of North Central Florida's weekend hunger backpack program. The program identifies chronically hungry children on the free/reduced lunch program that are in need of nutritional assistance over the weekend. (05/10)

End of Semester Trip

On April 9th, the 20 most active members of the Fisher School of Accounting Council went to Miami, FL to visit two of the top accounting firms, BDO and KPMG. (04/10)

FSOAC Bowling and Games Night

On April 5, the accounting students gathered at the Reitz Union Game Room for a fun-filled evening of bowling, billiards, and dance revolution. (04/10)

Pazzo Bistro Fundraiser Social

What's better than a delicious fresh cooked bowl of pasta? Sharing it with all your accounting friends at the semester's last FSOAC fundraising event! (03/10)

FSOAC Participates in Relay for Life

The Philanthropy committee proved how committed they are to the cause by raising over $1300 this semester towards the American Cancer society. (03/10)

Crowe Horwath Presentation

On March 25, Crowe Horwath held an informative presentation in Gerson 126 hosted by the Fisher School of Accounting Student Council. (03/10)

FSOAC Pot-Luck Social

FSOAC held their first Pot-Luck Social on February 28th. Luckily enough the Sunday afternoon that Mike Poiani selected for the (hopefully now) Annual FSOAC potluck picnic was absolutely beautiful. (02/10)

FSOAC and Beta Alpha Psi Hold Information Session

On Tuesday February 23, 2010, FSOAC and Beta Alpha Psi co-sponsored an informational forum on the ISOM graduate degree, the JD/MAcc combined degree program, and the CPA exam. (02/10)

Philanthropy Pizza Fundraiser

On Tuesday February 16th, FSOAC held a philanthropy Fundraiser at I Love NY Pizza on University to raise money for The American Cancer Society. (02/10)

Council Holds TCBY Fundraiser

On Wednesday, February 10, 2010, The Fisher School of Accounting Council hosted a fundraising social at The Country's Best Yogurt (TCBY). (02/10)

On February 3, 2010, Fisher School of Accounting Director Dr. Gary McGill hosted a social event on the back terrace of The Swamp Restaurant. (02/10)

FSOAC Goes to Jacksonville

On November 11th, members of the Fisher School of Accounting Council were given the opportunity to meet professionals and tour the offices of three accounting firms in Jacksonville. (11/09)

Gator March for Babies

On November 8th FSOAC participated in the Gator March for Babies. Council was rewarded a plaque for their team's effort in raising over a thousand dollars, more than tripling the goal of $300. (11/09)

TCBY Fundraiser

Sweats, business clothes and jeans were all seen on Wednesday night, November 4th as council members poured into TCBY for some creamy frozen yogurt! (11/09)

Philanthropy Pizza Fundraiser

Pizza, garlic knots and Stromboli were on the menu for the Monday night, November 2nd philanthropy fundraiser at I Love NY Pizza. (11/09)

FSOAC Philanthropy Committee Particpates in Haunted Housing

On the night of October 26th, students from FSOAC Philanthropy Committee celebrated Halloween with many young Draculas and princesses. Hosted by Campus Diplomats, "Haunted Housing" at Maguire Village was a fun-filled event for the children of family housing. (10/09)

Accounting Conference

On Friday, October 16th, students of the Fisher School of Accounting attended UF's Accounting Conference at the Hilton UF Conference Center. The conference brought an outstanding line-up of speakers, including UF president Bernie Machen, Dr. Gary McGill, Dr. Robert Knechel, Deborah Garvin, and Dr. David Denslow. (10/09)

FSOAC 70's Skate Social

The FSOAC 70's Skate Social on October 14th was a complete success with a turnout of around thirty people at the Skate Station on 76th Avenue. (10/09)

FSOA Council, Student Investment Club and ALPFA Joint Meeting

On October 14th the FSOAC, the Student Investment Club, and the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) hosted Deloitte and the Fisher School's Dr. Victoria Dickinson. (10/09)

Council Holds Second General Meeting and Ben & Jerry's Fundraiser

FSOAC held their 2nd General Meeting on Wednesday, October 7th, followed by an Ice Cream Social Fundraiser at Ben & Jerry's. (10/09)

FSOAC Members Volunteer at Cancer Sports Camp

Twenty-five members of the FSOAC volunteered at the Climb for Cancer Foundation's Brandon Ling Memorial Sports Camp on Saturday, October 3rd. (10/09)

Council Holds First General Meeting of Fall 2009

FSOAC held their 1st General Meeting on Wednesday, September 16th with a great turnout of 105 in attendance. (9/09)

On March 12, the Fisher School of Accounting Council traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, where members were given the opportunity to meet with various accounting firms. (3/09)

FSOA Council had an opportunity to assist the Climb For Cancer Tennis Tournament benefiting UF Shands Cancer Center and the UF College of Medicine Pediatric Oncology Division. (1/09)

Council Plays Intramural Sports

This semester the Fisher School of Accounting Council is involved in three intramural sports, compared to last semester (which was FSOAC's first time participating) where the council members participated only in the competitive flag football league. (1/09)

FSOAC Participates in Business Bash

More than 20 business organizations, the MIB program, Study Abroad services, and Warrington advisors participated in a bash to help students get the most out of their UF experience. (1/09)

FSOAC Goes to Orlando

Council members traveled to sunny Orlando, Florida where they met with various professionals from Grant Thornton's Orlando practice, followed by a visit to Amway Arena to meet with Jeff Bissey, controller of the Orlando Magic. (11/08)

Council Holds its Fourth General Meeting of Fall 2008

Special Agent Jeffrey Westcott from the FBI was guest speaker at the FSOAC's fourth general meeting. (11/08)

Council Bowling and Billiards Social

A Bowling and Billiards Social was hosted by the FSOAC. Members enjoyed unlimited pool and bowling for more than two hours. (10/08)

FSOAC Volunteers in the Annual Haunted Housing Festival

The Fisher School of Accounting Council participated in the annual Haunted Housing festival hosted by Campus Diplomats. (10/08)

Council Holds its Third General Meeting of Fall 2008

Climb For Cancer Foundation Annual Sports Day

The Fisher School of Accounting Council had the pleasure of assisting with the Climb For Cancer Foundation's annual Sports Day at the O'Connell Center. (10/08)

Over 40 students attended a barbeque at Lake Wauberg where they participated in recreation and relaxation. (9/08)

St. Francis Beautification Project

As the Florida Gators took a weekend off to prepare for the Tennessee Volunteers, the Fisher School of Accounting Council took on its own volunteering at the St. Francis House. (9/08)

Swamp Social

This semester's Swamp Social hosted by Dr. Gary McGill was an immense success with an attendance of about 150 students. (9/08)

End of the Year Barbeque

Council sponsored an end of the year barbeque on the Babicz Terrace for all accounting students and faculty members as the last event of the semester. (4/08)

John Haven and Linda McGurn Discuss Employment Opportunities Beyond Public Accounting

Special guests John Haven and Linda McGurn, prominent Fisher School of Accounting alumni, were invited to the fourth meeting on April 16th to speak about alternative careers that are available to accounting students outside the traditional roles of public accounting. (4/08)

Italian Quarter Social and Fundraiser

Organized as a joint fundraiser and social event, thirty FSOAC members gathered at Italian Quarter Restaurant on April 11th to eat, socialize, and earn money for the organization. (4/08)

Relay for Life

Twenty-five FSOAC members participated in UF's Relay for Life fundraiser on March 28th, raising over $1,000 to support the American Cancer Society in the fight against Cancer. (3/08)

Miami Trip

Members went to Miami for this year's Spring trip. The purpose of the trip was to expose members to public accounting firms and get a chance to network with professionals in the field. (3/08)

Presentation on Professional Etiquette

A special presentation on professional etiquette was sponsored by the Southeastern firm of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland L.L.P. (2/08)

Meals Prepared for St. Francis House

Meals were prepared by Council members in a visit to the St. Francis House in Gainesville. This event is the first of three community service events Council will host during the Spring 2008 semester. (2/08)

Donation Drive to Help Fight Cancer

A Donation Drive was hosted by the FSOAC in the lobby of Gerson Hall. The Council raised over $200 from the Drive. All proceeds go to help support the American Cancer Society in the fight against Cancer. (2/08)

Karaoke Night

Members sang karaoke in an organized social event hosted by the Council at the TGIF restaurant. This was one of the many social events that the Council will host during the Spring 2008 semester. (2/08)

Swamp Social

The Swamp Social was hosted by Dr. McGill and the FSOAC. The Swamp Social is where students are able to meet professors on a more personal level rather than a classroom setting. (1/08)
