Is an Online MSM degree from Warrington worth it?

Leadership wants you to contribute your ideas to company-wide initiatives. And as you look beyond entry level, you know you’ll need to build budgets, forecast risks and profits, and engage teams.

While you can pick up some things on your own, there’s a better way to acquire the basics of doing business: an Online Master of Science in Management degree from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business.

We merged two trailblazing concepts to develop this program: one of the first MSM degrees created for non-business majors plus the interactive, asynchronous format introduced with our top-ranked Online MBA over two decades ago.

Together, you have access to a comprehensive, foundational business education from wherever you are (and at any time of day or in your career), enhanced by our always-evolving approach to distance learning.

What does this mean for you?

  • Affordable core courses and flexible electives tell you all you need to know and let you apply concepts in real time.
  • The full Warrington experience without ever traveling to Gainesville: influential faculty leading your lectures, driven classmates eager to network, career assistance for moving up or changing directions, and study abroad trips for a cross-cultural perspective of business practices.

To sum that up, this is a career transformation on your timeline.

Team meeting.

About the Online MSM program

Whatever your passion or aspirations, you recognize that all fields and career paths benefit from a broad understanding of business.

Warrington’s Online MSM degree program gets you up to speed, no matter if you majored in science, engineering, the arts, the humanities or another non-business discipline. In virtual classes, you’ll learn from the same faculty who teach our on-campus MSM and Full-Time MBA programs. Here’s what to expect:

  • Core courses: The bulk of the program is your 101 and beyond view of finance, accounting, global strategy, organizational behavior and other transferable concepts. While you can review lectures at any time, intensive assignments and group projects are a hallmark of the MSM, requiring you to solve problems through theory.
  • Electives: Now’s the time to plot your career path, down to what you need to know to reach your next destination. Electives in entrepreneurship, international business, management and marketing let you pick a direction or grow into someone well-rounded.
  • Group projects: From brainstorming sessions to projects with assigned roles, collaboration is the rule of the modern workplace. Recognizing this, the Online MSM program incorporates assignments that bring you and your classmates together to contemplate a challenge in a similar fashion. This approach also lets you practice what you’re learning before you put it into action on the job.

Scholarships and tuition assistance

Invest in your personal and professional success with an Online MSM that may boost your salary and costs less than comparable programs.

For an even greater return, the following opportunities further offset tuition and other expenses:

  • Scholarships: Newly admitted students may be eligible for a limited number of merit and need-based scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000. Scholarship application instructions will be emailed to eligible students two weeks prior to the scholarship application deadline. Awards are open to domestic and international students.
  • Florida Bright Futures: Are you surging ahead through the combination track? Florida Bright Futures recipients who graduated with their bachelor’s degree in seven semesters/105 credits or less may be eligible to apply remaining Florida Bright Futures funding to the first semester of the MSM program.
  • Florida Prepaid Students: Once accepted into the combination program, Florida Prepaid students may apply any remaining prepaid funds toward graduate tuition.

Formats for the Online MSM program

The online master’s in management program primarily delivers courses asynchronously. You log in to view lectures, participate in discussions and submit assignments. Expect to devote at least six to 10 hours per week per course to your studies.

You can complete this degree through one of the following pathways:

  • Traditional online program: You finished a bachelor’s and started your career. Rather than place everything on pause, this format lets you progress educationally and professionally around your schedule.
  • Bachelor’s/master’s combination program: Become the candidate employers seek by completing Online MSM courses as you finish your bachelor’s. Open to current University of Florida students, bachelor’s/master’s combination degrees let you graduate with two competitive credentials in less time and expand your skills in line with job market expectations. Learn more about our bachelor’s/master’s combination degrees.
  • Master’s/master’s, master’s/doctoral, and joint degree programs: Whether you want to plan future promotions or prepare for entrepreneurship, the Online MSM degree program can enrich several UF master’s, professional, and Ph.D. programs. Learn more about our concurrent and joint specialized master’s programs.
  • On-campus: For students who prefer an in‑person experience, we offer a residential program on our Gainesville campus. Discover more about the on‑campus MSM format.
