Additional Centers, Initiatives, Grants

Several centers, grants and interdisciplinary programs at Warrington focus on AI and analytics applications in business. Examples include:

  • Digital Markets Initiative at the University of Florida
    Housed in the Warrington College of Business within the Public Utility Research Center (PURC), DMI researchers examine the business and regulatory implications of the growth of digital markets. This happens through rigorous and relevant research, public engagement, and student mentorship.
  • Kelley A. Bergstrom Real Estate Center
    The Bergstrom Real Estate Center recently hired Bill Hughes, PhD (Managing Director of Global Research and Strategy at UBS) as Executive Director of Applied Research. Dr. Hughes conducts big data research on Florida real estate that benefit a wide range of real estate professionals. Learn more about the research activities of the real estate center.
  • Interdisciplinary PhD Certificate in Quantitative Finance
    In collaboration with UF PhD Programs in ISE, Math, and Statistics, this program has been operational for many years. The emphasis is on an interdisciplinary approach requiring knowledge in finance, economics, mathematics, probability/statistics, operations research, engineering, and computer science. The PhD students in this interdisciplinary certificate program have gone on to big data/business analytics/data science careers often in the finance industry and academia. Some of our finance faculty have also served on their dissertations in these other departments.

Industry Engagement

Warrington aims to be the gateway for industry engagement with UF on AI/Analytics. We envision a Business Analytics Center that will coordinate between companies and with internal units in Warrington and other colleges across the university. The activities of the center would include corporate training, applied research, conferences, speakers and faculty/student support.
