Marketing Research Seminar – Gizem Yalcin Williams

October 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:15 pm

The Marketing Research Seminar features presentations by leading scholars from top universities across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. In addition to sharing their research, visiting speakers engage in one-on-one and small group meetings with marketing faculty and Ph.D. students.

Gizem Yalcin Williams, assistant professor of marketing at the University of Texas, is the featured speaker. In her research, Williams explores algorithmic decision-making, the psychology of technology, prosocial behavior, consumer behavior, and judgment and decision-making. One of her main interests is comparing how consumers process and react to information provided by other people, such as experts or friends, as opposed to information provided by algorithms or artificial intelligence. She also investigates prosocial behavior and moral judgment and has conducted studies exploring how consumers decide what organizations and causes to donate to, and what companies to support.
