Aaron D. Hill is an Associate Professor in the Management Department of the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. He received a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University and both an M.B.A. and B.B.A. from Gonzaga University. His research focuses on strategic leadership and governance, examining what drives strategic leaders like executives and politicians to act as well as the ultimate implications of these individuals for organizational outcomes; relatedly, Aaron's scholarship addresses research methods and analytical tools, particularly as they apply to the study of strategic leadership and governance. His research has been published in outlets such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Organization Science, and Strategic Management Journal as well as recognized as the recipient of scholarly awards, including the Sage Publications/Robert McDonald Advancement of Organizational Research Methodology, the Journal of Management Impact Award, and Recognition in the Responsible Research in Business & Management Honor Roll. Aaron's research has also been featured in various media outlets, including the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and the Harvard Business Review.
In addition to his research and teaching, Aaron has served in a number of leadership positions in his field. Within the Strategic Management Society, Aaron served in the officer rotation of the Strategic Leadership & Governance Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society, as an Engagement Officer for the Interest Group, on the advisory panel for the Research Methods Community in the Strategic Leadership & Governance Interest Group, and on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee of the Board of Directors. He was also Conference Co-Chair of a Strategic Management Society special conference focusing on strategic leadership and governance theories and practice. Within the Southern Management Association, Aaron previously served a three-year term on the Board of Directors, a two-year term as Co-Coordinator of the Pre-Doctoral Consortia, and an on-going term as Co-Coordinator for the Career Paths and Teaching Consortia. The Southern Management Association elected Aaron a Fellow in 2023 in recognition of his scholarly achievements and service to the organization. He is currently finishing his term as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Management as well as serving on the editorial boards of the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategic Organization. Prior to joining the Warrington College of Business at University of Florida, Aaron was an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno as well as both an Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, where he held the Spears Chair in Business Administration.
