Dr. Amanda J. Phalin is an instructional associate professor at the University of Florida in the Warrington College of Business Management Department, where she teaches the College’s undergraduate core course in international business, as well as graduate classes in managerial economics. Through her core course, she educates 1,300 students annually. She has earned MBA’s Outstanding Faculty Award, the College’s Teaching with Technology Award, and the University’s Online Education Excellence Award. Her research covers several areas, including gender issues in international business and economics; educational technology, pedagogy, and outcomes; and intellectual property rights, particularly in the green sector.
Dr. Phalin serves as the 2022–2023 Chair of the UF Faculty Senate and on other University committees, including the Academic Integrity Member Group and the e-Learning Advisory Committee. She is an affiliate faculty member of UF’s Bob Graham Center for Public Service and UF’s Center for Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies Research. She mentors students through the Florida Opportunity Scholars Program and the University Minority Mentor Program.
Prior to her work at the University of Florida, Dr. Phalin was a writer and editor covering international news for almost 10 years. Her work (written under her maiden name, Amanda Watson-Boles) has appeared in such publications as the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Foreign Policy Magazine, and Slate.com, among others.
