FSOA Students

Module Dates for Spring: As a reminder, the dates for graduate module classes are a bit unusual this semester, especially as they relate to Spring Break. Spring Break will NOT occur between Modules 3 and 4. Instead, Module 4 will begin right after Module 3 final exam week, and Spring Break will occur after the first week of Module 4. For specific dates, please see the Module Dates in the MyFisher section of the website.

Relay for Life is a fundraising event that helps raise funds for cancer research while celebrating the many stories of survival from the disease. The Fisher School of Accounting Council will be participating in Relay for Life this year by raising and donating as much as possible! Undergraduate Students

LeadUF is a foundational leadership retreat where students will learn about, reflect on and develop their personal leadership framework. The weekend retreat incorporates large group activities, small group discussions, reflection, outdoor experiences, time to connect with other leaders and lots of FUN in a beautiful location, and is designed to accommodate different learning styles. Scholarship Opportunities

The following two scholarships are awarded by the Florida Institute of CPA’s (FICPA) Educational Foundation. Please note that their website mentions three scholarships available to UF students through the Foundation, including an “Educational Foundation” or “EDF” scholarship. Consideration for this scholarship will be given to students who completed the FSOA Graduate Awards application. You will not be able to apply for this scholarship on the FICPA website. However, to be considered for the following two scholarships, you must apply on the FICPA website.

FICPA’s Walter A. Friedly Memorial Scholarship Fund, established through the Community Foundation of Broward, has designated three (3) scholarships at $1,719 each for accounting students for the 2017 fall semester. Applicants must be 4th or 5th year accounting students who will be enrolled in the Fall 2017 semester, U.S. citizens (or Permanent Resident Status) and residents of Broward County. Students must also indicate a desire to work in Florida and plan to sit for the CPA exam. In addition, the student must demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office for Student Financial Affairs. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2017. The James Wilcox Endowed Scholarship Fund, established through the FICPA Educational Foundation, has allocated four $5,000 scholarships for African-American accounting students from accredited Florida colleges and universities. 4th year students who are currently completing their senior year and will be enrolled in our Master’s Program in Fall 2017, are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens (or Permanent Resident Status), Florida residents, indicate a desire to work in Florida and plan to sit for the CPA exam. Deadline to apply is March 15, 2017. Intern Opportunity

The Alachua County Office of Management and Budget is seeking an accounting student for an Internship. This Internship will be part-time through the school year, and full-time in the summer.
