The EM Lyon Business School was founded in Lyon in 1872 by the local business community, and is affiliated to the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry. EM Lyon is a leading French business school with Triple accreditation: EQUIS by the EFMD, AMBA and the AACSB. In 2007, the school was ranked third in France, and in the top 10 in Europe, by both the Financial Times and The Economist.
The School
EM Lyon is a well respected business school in France. It has renowned faculty and extensive company contacts. Exchange students are allowed to take part in all career activities, including interviewing with interested companies for jobs or internships. The exchange program is very active and you will make many new friends.
The City
Lyon is France's second largest city with much to offer and is a 1 1/2 hour train ride from Paris, 2 hours from great skiing to the east and 3 hrs from beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Shopping and popular bars and restaurants in the city center are a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the school. Buses also run through the city, but not at night.

Effective fall 2009 a semester system will be instituted for all terms.

Courses Available
A variety of business courses are offered in French and English. limited selection in English, but enough to take a full load and get needed MAIB credit. Lyon is known for its Marketing and Management programs, thus there are great courses to choose from in those disciplines. The professors are from various European countries, and some non-Europeans. Lyon requires that you take at least 4 classes during the 4 month term.
Languages
The school operates in English and French. All Lyon students are required to speak English and a third language other than French, so you will have no trouble functioning if you do not know the language. French is predominantly spoken in the city.

Minimum Credit Requirements
Minimum 12 ECTS credits (equivalent to 8 UF credits) per semester.
Estimated Expenses
$1000 to $1200 per month depending on housing choice.
Accommodation
Residence halls are available with completed housing agreement; single or shared rooms. Reservations must be made at the time of exchange application. Rooms are limited but priority is given to foreign students. It is recommended to live in halls rather than in a private apartment or flat. 5 minute walk to class, and Carrefour (like Wal-Mart) is just a 15 min. walk up the street.

Travel Opportunities
Lyon has an ideal geographical location. Located at the crossroad between Northern and Southern Europe, there are many transportation networks that open up a multitude of travel opportunities. Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, the Côte d'Azur, and Spain are all easily reached by a short train ride.
