Retailing For Students

Learning from classroom lectures is only part of the education offered by the Miller Retail Center. Students are encouraged to sign up for activities outside the classroom that expose them to life in the retail industry.

Being immersed into the real world as much as possible is the best way to be an attractive option for companies looking to hire from the Center. We help students achieve this through the annual New York City Retail Tour, which is open to University of Florida students across campus and offers an inside look at the retail industry in one of the most vibrant markets in the United States.

While back on campus in Gainesville, students are involved in opportunities like The Retail Society, Retail You! and the Retail Management Internship that provide networking opportunities and chances for students to grow more familiar with the industry.

It's all aimed at giving students as much experience as possible in the world of retailing before they begin working in the field.

New York City Retail Tour

The Center hosts an annual trip to New York City for students interested in the retail industry. Tour the Big Apple during Spring Break and visit hot retailers, have dinner with alumni and explore the city on your own.

Retail You!

Gator Freshmen and sophomores can be part of an exclusive development program designed to prepare students for retail executive internships and careers. RETAIL YOU is a weekly Friday morning colloquium. The experience will bring you to the forefront of what the industry seeks in its future talent and prepare you to fast-track your career in the industry. This is not a class.

Internships

The Retail Management Internship allows students to actively apply their academic experiences to management positions during the summer months.
