Pretoria, South Africa
How can broadcasters, telecom operators, and their regulators deal with technology convergence? That was the theme of the course, Digital Multimedia Management and Regulation, taught at the University of Pretoria, where PURC Director Mark A Jamison served as lead faculty.
Dr. Jamison taught sessions on convergence, policy frameworks, radio spectrum management, competition, and leadership, and moderated all other course sessions. Other topics in the course included innovation, macroeconomic trends, business models for serving the poor, multimedia marketing, regulatory impact assessment, ethics, and regulatory and business models. Course faculty came from South Africa, Tanzania, and the United States. Course participants examined cases on business model change, marketing, and regulatory change. The course was part of the executive program offered by the Gordon Institute of Business Science.
