July 20 - 21, 2010
Kampala, Uganda
How can executive managers help their regulatory agencies prepare for and adapt to new challenges? That was the topic of this leadership development workshop delivered onsite by PURC Director Mark Jamison and PURC Assistant Director Araceli Castañeda.
Hosted by the Uganda Communications Commission, participants studied how executive leadership involves knowing one’s own strengths and limitations, preparing one’s organization for its work, and managing the external environment. Through case studies, personal and organizational assessment, and action plans, the participants learned about assessing an organization’s health, distinguishing between technical and adaptive challenges, adapting leadership approaches to current situations, involving others in the work of leadership, and challenging conventional wisdom. In attendance were 27 regulatory professionals from 7 different nations.
