15th Annual PURC Conference: Partial Regulation, Managed Markets and Beyond
February 4 - 5, 1988
Gainesville, FL USA
Each year, PURC annual conference in Gainesville brings together key leaders in industry and academia, primarily from Florida and the Southeast to engage in meaningful dialogue about current issues. This conference focused on current issues facing the industry, including how public and private policymakers should deal with competitive pressures in a regulated environment. The conference sessions examined regulatory reforms and subsequent industry restructuring. The plenary session focused on the long-run compatibility of regulation with the presence of significant competition, while the implications for telecommunications were addressed in those sector sessions. The final day's sessions examined cogeneration and wheeling in electricity, as well as adding rate design and technological risks to the agenda.
