PURC/CLA Executive Development Series for Utility Commissioners: Providing Leadership in Utility Policy
November 10, 2007
Anaheim, California, USA
Utility commissioners from the United States and Canada attended the PURC/CLA Executive Development Workshop, Providing Leadership in Utilities Policy, to examine how utility regulators can provide leadership on today's critical regulatory issues.
The featured discussion examined how state commissioners shaped their roles on the Federal/State Joint Board on Universal Service and helped make progress on issues that have been stalled for years. Federal-state relations, commissioner and staff responsibilities, providing vision and focus, working with diverse interests, and coalition building were among some of the topics discussed.
Commissioners also examined how to provide leadership on climate change issues when there are significant disagreements among policy makers. PURC partnered with Cambridge Leadership Associates to provide the workshop. PURC Senior Fellows Bob Gee, President, Gee Strategies Group LLC; Brett Perlman, President, Vector Advisors; and Bob Rowe, Senior Partner, Balhoff & Rowe, LLC joined PURC Director Mark Jamison in leading the workshop.
