Aarhus University was founded in 1928 and with more than 40,000 students it is the second largest university in Denmark. In 2007 Aarhus School of Business merged with Aarhus University becoming School of Business and Social Sciences at Aarhus University (Aarhus BSS). Aarhus BSS is one of Europe’s leading business schools, with over 13,000 students in attendance. A triple-crown accreditation (EQUIS, AMBA and AACSB) places Aarhus BSS among the best business schools worldwide and on a par with the London Business School, INSEAD in France, and the University of Washington, USA. In addition to high quality research programs, modern surroundings, and the use of cutting edge technology, students benefit from a strong international orientation. International partnerships and exchange agreements with over 150 business schools and universities worldwide insure a diverse student body and prepare students to consider business activities in a global perspective.

The City
With a population in excess of 270,000 inhabitants, Aarhus is the second largest city in Denmark. It was founded by the King of Denmark around the year 750; a time when Vikings ruled the country. Today, Aarhus is known as the capital of the provinces, recognized for its thriving business and commercial sector as well as the many schools and educational institutions located in the area. The downtown area hosts a mixture of cobbled streets, green parks, old monuments and modern buildings in addition to the Aarhus River, which runs through the city’s center. The river provides a picturesque landscape for patrons of the many intimate cafes that populate the area. In contrast to the pulsating life of Aarhus, the city is surrounded by tranquil nature sanctuaries. Sandy beaches and large forest areas to the north and south of the city provide residents a quiet place to relax.
Student Life
For Danes, ‘hygge’ – the concept of coziness – is an essential part of life. Maybe that is why Danes have been named the happiest people in the world on numerous occasions. Thanks to hygge, international students are warmly welcomed at the university and are provided with many opportunities to meet and socialize with other Danish and international students. The Aarhus BSS campus is situated just north of the city center, placing it within walking distance to many of the area’s restaurants, cafes, parks, gardens, theatres, art galleries, shopping centers, and night clubs. In addition to the numerous city entertainment outlets and cultural events, there are also many academic and recreational activities on campus that are available to exchange students. There is also a mentor and buddy program to help students ease into their new surroundings.

Aarhus BBS offers a variety of business courses for students to choose from. There is a non-credit, Danish language class students may attend off campus for a small fee. Language of Instruction
Courses are taught in English or Danish. UF students are able to take a full load of business courses in English.

Credit Conversion
All courses at Aarhus University are 5, 10 or 15 ECTS. Exchange students must take either 25 or 30 ECTS. Degree students would be expected to take 30 ECTS per semester.

Travel Opportunities
In Denmark you will find that the distances are short – and this makes it possible to combine the atmosphere of a buzzing city life with the relaxation of the beautiful Danish country- and seaside. Clean beaches and green forests are no more than a 15 minute walk from campus along with numerous cultural and artistic offerings available. International travel is also practical as Denmark lies in the heart of Northern Europe, with Germany to the south, Norway to the north, and Sweden to the east. Aarhus is strategically located with world-wide transport links by air, sea and land. Its airport, ports, railway station and well-developed network of roads, make Aarhus an important transport center.
