Meet the Ambassadors
Heavener’s Business Ethics Ambassadors was established in the Fall of 2014 by nine founding members, to give students an opportunity to practice and develop ethical leadership long before joining the workforce. Neda Anvary
Year: Senior
Major/Minor: Management/Entrepreneurship

-
Alix Claude
Year: Senior
Major/Minor: Management/Retailing Leadership
Hometown: Arlington, VABio: I had always been interested in learning how business could aid in humanitarian pursuits but I never fully understood just how relevant ethics is to socially responsible business practices. After I took Dr. Darnell’s business ethics course I found myself really interested in the application of ethical principles in real world business issues. I hope to learn even more about ethics in business as well as help promote further education in ethics to prepare our future business leaders.
-
Maria Frias
Year: Senior
Major: Economics
Hometown: Orlando, FLBio: I first became interested in ethics and its importance after taking Dr. Darnell’s business ethics course my junior year. It really opened my eyes to the many ethical dilemmas faced by individuals in everyday life and by professionals in the business world.
-
Michelle Gittino
Year: Senior
Major: Management
Hometown: Palm Harbor, FLBio: Working in the healthcare industry since I was 16 I saw a lot of unethical things that I knew needed to be changed. Having this opportunity to be a founder member of Heavener’s Business Ethics Ambassadors helped me become part of the change in bringing ethics awareness to the healthcare industry and the business world in general. I plan on continuing my education and obtaining my masters in healthcare administration, and implementing what I have learn from my experience in this organization into the real world.
-
Sam Grace
Year: Senior
Major/Minor: Finance/Entrepreneurship
Hometown: Orlando, FLBio: I’ve always believed good character is vital to being successful and happy in life, and being ethical ties directly to building strong character. Furthermore, as a Finance major, I’d heard about many ethical scandals in the industry so I decided to take Ethics in Global Business with Professor Michelle Darnell in order to build my ethical character. The course was one of my favorites and I enjoyed reading lots of different ethical viewpoints in order to shape my own definition of what ethics truly means. Now I plan to continue building upon my ethical foundation as I begin my professional career.
-
Connor Jones
Year: Senior
Major: Business Administration
Hometown: Orlando, FLBio: Even as a young child, I have always stood up for what I thought was right and just. Ethics has always been a part of who I am. When I became a Christian and saw how deeply God cared for justice with no compromise, the passion for ethics from my youth was fanned into flame. I deeply desire that no matter what positive trade-off I face in business I will always deal fairly and honestly, because I believe that is what honors God, others, and myself.
-
Kelsey Noris
Year: Senior
Major: Business Administration
Hometown: Lakeland, FLBio: The Warrington Welcome Ethics Case Competition initially sparked my interest in business ethics. The project was run by another student organization, but I became very involved in its operation. A year and a half later I took the Ethics in Global Business course and enjoyed diving deeper into theories behind ethics. I have now had the opportunity to talk about business ethics with other students through the case competition and am excited to continue to bring ethics initiatives to the college.
-
Miriam Pinedo
Year: Senior
Major: Business Administration
Hometown: Boca Raton, FLBio: I love taking conceptual ideas and bringing them into the practical. This is especially important when dealing with ethics. We all have belief systems, but normally don’t take the time to think about the subconscious process we take when deciding what we ought to do or not do. These are the decisions that form the culture in which we live. Having the ability to identify the different approaches to ethics can help us reach common grounds and ethical standards. That is what sparked my interest in ethics.
-
Ariela Steinberg
Year: Senior
Major: Finance
Hometown: Recife, BrasilBio: Working on Wall Street opened my eyes to the importance of ethical leadership and navigating the “grey” areas of business. Because of the scrutiny and increased regulation on banks, acting with integrity and a strong moral compass is vital to being a successful leader within the financial services industry.
-

My life philosophy is centered around the quote “who’s to say what is proper?” To me, I can only answer this question by utilizing ethics to guide my actions and decisions.
