Finance Professional Development Program

Your gateway to a career in finance

Funds in. Funds out. Finance might seem like statements of pluses and minuses, but these numbers often tell a specific story.

The University of Florida Warrington College of Business’ Finance Professional Development program aims to kick-start your academic and professional journey in finance with support from industry leaders, faculty, and fellow students.

You’ll start with Fundamentals a general curricular overview of the field. Next, your specialization in one of five tracks (Corporate and Commercial Banking, Corporate Finance and Treasury, FinTech, Investment Banking and Private Equity, or Wealth Management) which provide discipline-specific training and networking opportunities.

The Finance Professional Development program welcomes all Warrington students pursuing a career in finance to apply. Learn more about the program’s structure and how to participate below.

Fundamentals

What options do you have in the finance field? In Fundamentals, you and your peers will attend weekly lessons that highlight different areas of industry and related professional roles. Expect to dedicate about three to five hours per week to scheduled lessons and instructional materials.

Team-based learning

Understand what finance professionals do through assignments, classroom discussions, and team activities based on a “Learn, Think, Decide” structure.

Career preparation

Create your “in” for the industry by designing a finance-ready resume, practicing for interviews, monitoring markets, and speaking with established professionals.

Learn from older students

Watch video interviews with alumni and attend roundtable discussions with older students to learn about their summer internship experiences and how they chose their respective track.

Academic lectures

Discussions and presentations by Warrington’s Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Department faculty will help you explore the field from a broad level and determine your place in it.

Get started with Fundamentals

Fundamentals starts during the first week of either the Fall or Spring semester. Due to early hiring timelines, students are highly encouraged to complete it during their first year. Current second-year, third-year, and transfer students should contact Annabelle Dobson to confirm their timeline before submitting the registration form.

Connections

Like anything in finance, career success hinges on strategy. The speaker series invites prominent professionals, including Warrington alumni, to campus to talk about what has worked for them and share market and industry insights.
