MAcc registration

New MAcc students

After being admitted, new MAcc students will have their records updated so that they can register (assuming registration for their first semester has already begun). This process can take a few days. Admitted 3/2 students are expected to attend a 3/2 group advising session the week before classes start. All other admitted MAcc students should meet with a graduate advisor after being admitted to plan their schedules. For more information, visit the admitted students websites for the 3/2, MAcc, and JD/MAcc programs.

Continuing MAcc students

Before registering, you should do the following:

  • Meet with an academic advisor well before your Registration Beginning Time.
  • Check One.UF for holds.
  • Review the requirements for your concentration option.
  • Review the registration dates below.
  • Review the course schedules below. Pay close attention to:
    • The semester/module a course is offered
    • Prerequisites
    • The class number for your preferred meeting time.
    • Note the semester/module for each course you would like to take, as well as the class numbers for your preferred sections.

Prerequisites

Most MAcc students will automatically meet the prerequisites for most of courses they are planning to take. The most common exception is a student who earned their bachelor’s degree from another university. These students should pay extra close attention to the prerequisites, and if they do not have UF courses that meet the prerequisites, should email Tracy Hicks well before registration to request permission.

Closed classes

If a class/section you want is full, you should keep checking. Enrollment is monitored, and enrollment caps are sometimes adjusted to allow for more students to register. All students will be able to register for the classes they need to graduate. However, we cannot guarantee that every student will be able to take every class they want, nor can we guarantee preferred sections. If the beginning of the semester is close, classes you need to graduate are unavailable, please email Tracy Hicks.

Registration dates

You will not be able to register for all classes at the same time. Pay close attention to the dates below to determine which courses you can register for when.

October 27 – Advance Registration begins
University-wide registration begins, but most students cannot register right away.

October 27 – Business Core Survey distributed
Students who are not graduating by Summer 2026 will be emailed a MAcc Business Core Request survey. See Priority Registration below for more information.

October 27-30 – Priority Registration
During this time, concentration-specific accounting courses will be restricted to students in the related concentrations. Business Core Classes will be restricted for a longer period. See Priority Registration information below.

October 29, 2:00 p.m. – Graduate Registration begins
Most graduate students will be able to start registering. Check One.UF for your specific Registration Beginning Time. Students can register for accounting and business core classes (if not restricted by Priority Registration, see below). Elective and ISOM registration is later.

October 31, 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. – Priority Registration ends
Restrictions on concentration-specific accounting courses will be lifted. Business core restrictions will not be lifted at this time.

November 9 – Business Core Survey deadline
Students who are not graduating by Summer 2026 must submit the MAcc Business Core Request survey by this time. See Priority Registration below for more information.

November 21 – Business Core Survey results
Students who completed the MAcc Business Core Survey will be notified of the results and registered for core classes by this date. See Priority Registration below.

December 3, 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. – Business Core restrictions lifted
Once restrictions are lifted, all students may continue to add Business Core classes on a space-available basis. We are expecting limited availability for additional Business Core classes.

December 3, 10:00 a.m. – Elective/ISOM Registration begins
Students can begin registering for approved business electives. Auditing students can begin registering for their required ISOM courses.

Priority registration

  • Priority Registration for these courses will be October 27-30 (most graduate students won’t register until October 29.)
  • During this time, the following courses will be limited to students pursuing the indicated concentrations:
    • Auditing Concentration
      • ACG 6685 Forensic Accounting
      • ACG 6691 International Auditing
      • ACG 6841 Data Analytics for Accounting
    • Taxation Concentration
      • ACG 6107 Accounting for Income Taxes
      • TAX 6205 Partnership Taxation
      • TAX 6526 International Taxation
  • On Friday, October 31, between 8:00-9:00 a.m., any seats available in these restricted courses will be open to all MAcc students who meet the prerequisites.

In order to ensure graduating students are able to obtain a seat, initially, only students who are expected to graduate by Summer 2026 will be permitted to register for these courses.

For those graduating later, we will email a special MAcc Business Core Request survey. The survey will be sent on October 27, and must be completed no later than November 9.

The survey will ask you to submit your preferences for Business Core classes. Our goal is to ensure all students who are not graduating by Summer 2026 are able to register for at least one Business Core class. Once we have examined seat availability and your requests, we will register you for one of your selected classes and notify you of the result. We expect you to be notified by November 21.

On December 3, between 8:00 – 9:00 a.m., Business Core classes will be made available to all MAcc students. We will still be holding some seats for Spring 2026 applicants who have not yet been admitted. We expect very little availability at this time. However, you may register for any available seats on a first-come, first-served basis.

Note that if you are planning to attend classes in Summer 2026, BUL 5832 and MAN 5246 will be available that semester.

Remember that if you are not graduating, you do not need Business Core classes to complete your Spring schedule. You can also take Approved Business Electives. Auditing concentration students can also take one of the required ISOM classes.

The only Business Core course with a prerequisite (other than being a MAcc student) is GEB 6229, which requires students take two communication courses:

  • Professional Writing (AEC 3033C, GEB 3213, ENC 2210, ENC 3250, ENC 3254, or ENC 3312)
  • Professional Speaking (AEC 3030C, GEB 3218, or SPC 2608)

If you did not take one course from both lists, or if you did not earn your bachelor’s degree from UF, you must email Tracy Hicks well before registering to request permission.

MAN 5246 and MAN 6724 may have other sections that are restricted to students in other graduate programs. If you are getting a prerequisite error, double check that you are registering for the correct class number.

Approved business electives

When registering for approved electives, be sure to select courses and sections that are on the list below. Failure to do so could result in the course not counting toward your MAcc, and the need to take an additional course. In addition, some sections may be restricted to students in specific programs and unavailable to MAcc students.
