Tampa Bay region of Bergstrom Council presented “A Meeting of the Minds” on May 22nd

Over 160 Tampa Bay area real estate professionals gathered at Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club in Tampa for cocktails and dinner to hear from a high-powered panel of regional industry executives. Joining the panel were Chris Eastman, Chief Development Officer of Echelon; Skipper Peek, Vice President of Tavistock Development; Rick Baker, former Mayor of St. Petersburg and current President of The Edwards Group, Steve Hagenbuckle, Principal of TerraCap Management; and Ron Wheeler, Chief Executive Officer of The Sembler Company. The event was moderated by David Bernstein, Real Estate Team Leader and Partner of Adams and Reese LLP. Attendees took away a great discussion with candid commentary about how real estate deals are getting accomplished in today’s environment and how each panelist’s firm is positioned to excel going forward.

Tim Becker, Director of the Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies, provided opening commentary about the Center. Several recently graduated MSRE students were in attendance.

Chile Trip in the Works

In our largest year yet, both in attendance and sponsorships, conference proceeds will once again help cover a large portion of the students cost for their trip to Chile. The upcoming Chile trip will be in mid-August and facilitated by Tim Becker, CCIM and Professor David Ling. If you are an advisory board member interested in going on the trip, please contact Tim Becker.

2014 Capstone Project

The Nathan S. Collier Master of Science in Real Estate students conclude the program with a challenging, real world market value scenario called the Capstone Project. The projects are typically conceived of by our UF Real Estate Advisory Members. This year’s capstone project and MSRE competition was supplied and supported by Ram Realty Services. “Ram” is an affiliated group of companies and partnerships that acquire, develop, manage and finance retail and multifamily properties in the Southeast. We are grateful to Mr. Casey Cummings, Chief Executive Officer, and Mr. Jim Stine, Chief Investment Officer, for providing this unique opportunity.

“Team Kevin” was the winning team and consists of Michael Mulkern, Dylan Henderson, Kathleen Mauer, Kevin Jund, and Chris Roick. Congratulations!
