Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies welcomes incoming Chair and Vice Chair to Advisory Board

The Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies is pleased to announce the appointments of Todd Jones and Angela Brown to Chair and Vice Chair, respectively, of the Center's Advisory Board.

“I am honored to work with some of the best leaders in the real estate industry.”

Jones (BFA '80) is the Managing Director, Property Tax Services at Cushman & Wakefield. Based in Tampa, Jones oversees the firm's Southeast property tax practice, and is responsible for the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

Jones recently served as the Advisory Board's Vice Chair.

“I am honored to be able to work with some of the best leaders in the real estate industry, who are as committed as I am to support real estate degree programs at the University of Florida,” Jones said.

Jones will work with the Center and its more than 150 Advisory Board members. Members serve as mentors, speakers, and financial supporters of UF real estate degree programs and courses.

Jones succeeds former Chair Jeff Conn, Principal at Hallmark Partners in Jacksonville.

“I am confident that Todd will continue the momentum to keep the University of Florida one of the premier real estate programs in the country,” Conn said.

Brown (BSBA '83) is Vice President at Meridian Appraisal Group, Inc., in Winter Springs, Fla. She is responsible for the company's internal operations including quality control, product development, technological advances, appraisal review and organizational management among other duties.

Todd Powell speaks to University of Florida students about Plum Creek's Envision Alachua plan

“I enjoyed bringing a real-life and on-going project to case study students.”

Todd Powell (MBA '04), Director of Real Estate, Plum Creek, gave an insider's view of Envision Alachua to over 20 University of Florida Master of Science in Real Estate students at Hough Hall on Thursday October 9.

The case study class invites guest speakers to talk candidly about their own experiences in commercial real estate or a related industry. As a Gator graduate and a Bergstrom Center for Real Estate Studies Advisory Board member, he leapt at the chance to talk to the class.

“I enjoyed bringing a real-life and on-going project to case study students, and wanted to give them an opportunity to see how all development ties together,” says Todd Powell.

His main topics were explaining how the planning process began internally, and how Plum Creek has communicated the plan to the community at-large.
