Associate Professor of Accounting
University of International Business and Economics (China)
Jigao Zhu was selected to be a visiting research scholar to the University of Florida from Aug. 2013 to Aug. 2014 by the China Scholarship Council. He is currently an associate professor of Accounting at University of International Business and Economics (China). He earned his Ph.D. degree from Peking University (China) in 2010. His research interests include corporate governance, debt contracting, and earnings quality. Jigao has published academic papers in multiple journals, such as Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Business Ethics.
Nadine Funcke arrived at the Fisher School of Accounting as a visiting scholar in November 2012. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and is co-supervised by UF professor, Robert Knechel. She holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in International Business, specializing in Accounting and Finance, both from Maastricht University. Her research interests are in the field of auditing. “Visiting the Fisher School of Accounting allowed me to build personal and professional relationships with highly talented faculty. It has been a great research environment, and I particularly benefitted from learning about different research approaches as well as new insights and perspectives about accounting.” Nadine also enjoys singing and dancing and has participated in regional and international competitions in modern dance. Nadine returned to the Netherlands in March 2013.
In addition to Visiting Scholars, ICRAA also welcomes Seminar Visitors and Visiting Professors. Seminar Visitors are experienced scholars visiting for a short term (one week or less) with a presentation to the faculty. Visiting Professors are experienced scholars with a longer term visit for purposes of collaboration.
Marleen Willekens is professor of Accounting and Auditing and AFI department chair at KU Leuven. She earned her PhD from Warwick University (UK) and conducts mainly empirical auditing studies, covering topics such as audit pricing and competition, the quality of external auditing, auditor regulation and liability, and earnings quality. Marleen has published in various international journals including: Journal of Accounting and Economics, Accounting Organizations and Society, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, Accounting and Business Research, The European Accounting Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, and many others. She is currently editor of Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory and holds positions on various editorial boards.
