Macy's Marketplace

Glass, Elliott
Elliott Glass, Digital and Customer Strategy Team Lead, Macy's

The Miller Center was grateful to be able to welcome Elliott Glass, the digital and customer strategy team lead for Macy’s. Within digital innovations, Elliott develops ways for the customers to interact with Macy’s. He spoke about the innovations in customer experiences. The latest strategy is working to feature companies through the Macy’s marketplace.

In the marketplace, Macy’s is trying to create a space where customers can go for items that are in stores as well as items that Macy’s has never sold. A key aspect of this marketplace is the never “out of stock” items, which has been an issue with electronic marketplaces. Creating this marketplace involves defining a strategy as well as identifying possible risks for Macy’s. Elliott made sure to add that when they were creating this innovation the customer was the main focus. He believes that this innovation is only successful if the customer experience is to the standard that Macy’s holds for their business. Keeping their values in mind Macy’s launched the marketplace innovation and is excited to see how well it will perform with the holidays approaching.
