Yixuan Li, Associate Professor of Management at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business, is the recipient of the highly competitive and prestigious Early Career Achievement Award from the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management.

The award is given to an individual who makes distinguished contributions to the study of human resources in the first seven years of receiving their Ph.D.

“Receiving this award is both a tremendous honor and a deeply meaningful milestone for me,” said Li, who earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2018. “I am grateful that my research has been recognized by the HR Division of the Academy of Management, a scholarly community that I am deeply committed to. This award affirms the value of the questions I have been pursuing and motivates me to continue pursuing impactful research on human resource management.”

Li is the third faculty member from the University of Florida Warrington College of Business to receive the Early Career Achievement Award, joining Beth Ayers McCague Family Professor Brian Swider (2019) and Lanzillotti-McKethan Eminent Scholar and Associate Dean Mo Wang (2011).

“The support from the Warrington College of Business has been invaluable in my research journey,” Li said. “I have benefited from an intellectually stimulating and collaborative environment, as well as from supportive colleagues and institutional resources that have helped me advance my research agenda. Warrington has provided the community and infrastructure that make it possible for me to pursue meaningful research. I am very appreciative of being part of a college that values both scholarly excellence and practical impact.”

Li’s research delves into the human resource side of management, asking questions about how to cultivate innovative and inclusive workplace environments. Her current research projects focus on understanding human resource practices that improve organizations’ innovative capacities and employees’ inclusion experiences.

Li’s human resources insights have earned her several awards including the Emerging Scholar Award in Participation and Ownership from the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management and the Excellence Award for Assistant Professors from the University of Florida.

She is also among the recipients of the National Science Foundation’s Faculty Early Career Development Program (NSF CAREER) award, the research foundation’s most prestigious award that supports early-career faculty. Her project, which has nearly half a million dollars in support and focuses on how organizations navigate the tension between diversity and unity, runs through 2029.

Li is the incoming Associate Editor of the Journal of Management and served in guest editor roles for special issues from Personnel Psychology about navigating inclusion and exclusion to improve employee experiences at work and Work, Aging and Retirement about work design, aging and age diversity. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Work, Aging and Retirement.
