As Miami continues to grow as a center for finance, technology and global business, the University of Florida is establishing its presence in the city, bringing the state’s flagship institution to the state’s largest economic region.

The University of Florida recently opened its new location in downtown Miami. Located in the Citigroup Center across the river from the city’s financial district, the new site is anchored by the Warrington College of Business and its Weekend Part-Time MBA program.

The new location places UF and Warrington at the center of Florida’s largest metro economy and one of the state’s most influential business ecosystems. Miami-Dade County generates a gross domestic product of more than $219 billion, the highest county GDP in Florida, and its 2.7 million residents represent more than 12% of Florida’s population.

“Miami is one of the most influential business centers in the nation and a major driver of Florida’s economic future,” said Saby Mitra, Dean of the Warrington College of Business. “Establishing a presence in downtown Miami allows Warrington to more directly connect with industries, companies and professionals shaping that future while expanding access to a UF business education for working professionals in South Florida.”

For Warrington, the expansion reflects both the changing nature of graduate business education and the university’s broader mission as a land-grant university to support the state’s workforce and industries.

“Business education is increasingly experiential and connected to the businesses that our students will lead and serve,” said Adam Herman, Assistant Dean and Director of MBA Programs. “Being in Miami allows us to engage more directly with the companies driving Florida’s economic growth while creating new opportunities for students to tap into the city’s business community.”

The new University of Florida location in Miami brings Warrington MBA students closer to the city’s top industries of finance, technology, fintech, aviation and aerospace, trade and logistics, and life sciences and healthcare, which are critical to Florida’s future, as well as to international companies like American Airlines, Visa, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citi, Maersk and Ryder, that create a strong demand for highly skilled talent and leadership. Warrington MBA students in Miami will have expanded access to these industries and companies as well as more opportunities for experiential learning, networking and corporate partnerships.

“UF’s expansion into downtown Miami is an exciting investment in the future of our business community and talent development ecosystem,” said Melissa Medina (BSBA ‘00, MBA ‘02), CEO and Co-Founder of eMerge Americas. “Bringing a top-ranked MBA program into the heart of one of the nation’s fastest-growing business hubs creates new opportunities to develop and retain exceptional talent while strengthening collaboration between the university and the industries shaping South Florida. As both a UF alumna and business leader in Miami, I’m extremely excited to see the university deepening its presence in our city.”

While the location connects the Gainesville-based University of Florida directly to Miami’s downtown district, Warrington has long served South Florida, with locations in Miramar and Sunrise since 2004. The program’s relocation to Miami serves as a strategic investment in the region’s continued growth and in the business professionals helping to drive it forward.
