UF Gator Student Investment Fund Hits $1.7 million, donates $50k
The Gator Student Investment Fund (GSIF) completed another impressive year of growing the fund and preparing students for life after graduation.
GSIF is a student-managed investment fund that gives members a realistic asset management experience. As of early 2026, the value of the fund was $1,700,000.
The fund also gives annual donations to the Warrington College of Business and the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program, which assists historically low-income, first-generation college students in meeting their college costs.
In early 2026, GSIF distributed $37,000 to the Machen Florida Opportunities Scholars Program and $13,000 to Warrington.
The asset management experience provided in GSIF gives finance students hands-on experience investing real money. They’re prepared for internships and jobs by what they learn in GSIF.
“I have grown tremendously because of GSIF,” said Watson Hewitt, who is on the investment committee for GSIF. “Every semester, I am still amazed at looking back at how much I didn’t know in the prior semester. Early on, I learned a ton about valuation, accounting, and investing, and over time I’ve built a much stronger foundation. I feel a lot more confident now in my technical ability and overall market understanding as I head into my internship in private credit at Blackstone this summer.”
