Season of victory for the business ethics case competition team

This season, the Business Ethics Case Competition Team scored tremendous victories for the Warrington College of Business. The team traveled across the United States and Canada to compete on regional and national stages, placing highly in the following competitions:
- Mid-Atlantic Regional Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl — 1st Place
- Templeton Business Ethics Case Competition — 1st Place
- International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition — 2nd Place
- International Case & Business Competition (ICBC) — 3rd Place
- 30th Annual Association For Practical And Professional (APPE) Ethics Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl (IEB) — Final Four
- National Ethics Case Competition — Top 25 out of 300 institutions

“While these are our statistics that demonstrate the team’s success,” team president Iona Brooks said, “I can tell you that these are only possible because each and every team member challenges themselves to grow, work together and dedicate themselves to each and every case. The work that each team member put in, regardless of outcome, is what I view as our most notable accomplishments.”
Brian Ray, director of the Poe Business Ethics Center, shared that the APPE IEB National Championship was the team’s most significant accomplishment in the past ten years of his coaching. The team outcompeted 32 university teams, including Harvard, UPenn, Stanford, Yale, West Point, Georgia Tech and Northwestern.

Summer Haura led the APPE IEB National Championship team as captain. The team’s president, Iona Brooks, as well as Natalia Lopez, Nathaniel Maximiano, Kaitlyn O’Sullivan (BSBA ‘28) and Jaïm Steele all participated in this event.
“As captain this year, my greatest responsibility was to help my teammates feel confident in themselves,” Haura said. “We truly had so much fun, and accomplishments aside, the joy and closeness this brought our team was what made it so special.”
The team would like to thank Ray for his mentorship. Brooks said that he is a true definition of a servant leader, and she aspires to mirror the example set by his leadership.
“The 2025-2026 academic year was the most successful ever,” Ray said. “I am honored and privileged to get to coach and mentor such bright young people. The members of this team give me tremendous hope for the future.”
