Md Mahmudul Hasan, assistant professor at the University of Florida Warrington College of Business and College of Pharmacy, was a recipient of the 2026 UF Excellence Award for Assistant Professors.

This award supports the research of 10 assistant professors or assistant curators annually across the university. Recipients are granted $5,000 to advance their research efforts, including equipment, books, graduate student stipends and other research expenses.

“I am incredibly honored and deeply grateful to receive this award,” Hasan said. “For me, this is a wonderful validation of the bridge we are building between the Warrington College of Business and the College of Pharmacy. This award provides the momentum to help us achieve our ultimate goal: translating our most promising AI-driven interventions from the lab into widespread, sustainable clinical practice that improves and saves lives.”

Hasan has a joint appointment with the Warrington College of Business’ Information Systems and Operations Management department and College of Pharmacy. His research reflects this intersection of healthcare, data and management science; his studies apply core concepts, including predictive and prescriptive analytics, to build AI-driven clinical decision support systems. Ultimately, these systems seek to help healthcare organizations become more efficient, effective and data-driven.

“My research directly addresses fundamental organizational and operational challenges within the healthcare industry,” Hasan said. “From a business perspective, a hospital or clinic is a complex organization that must manage risk, allocate resources efficiently and optimize its core processes for delivering patient care to achieve the best possible outcomes.”

His involvement in Warrington has shaped his research, merging extensive clinical knowledge with operationally efficient and scalable solutions in the business domain. As an educator, he has also introduced students to the challenges and opportunities of applying AI in business and healthcare.
He joins past UF Excellence Award for Assistant Professor recipients Yixuan Li, Martin L. Schaffel Professor Klodiana Lanaj and PricewaterhouseCoopers ISOM Professor Liangfei Qiu as Warrington faculty members advancing business research with excellence.
