Official GRE/GMAT Test Scores for Graduate School Admission

We accept either GRE or GMAT test scores. We have no preference as to what test applicants choose to take. Test scores will be used as part of the holistic application review process.

Exemption from GRE or GMAT: The only applicants who are exempt from submitting a GRE or GMAT score are those who have already completed and have been conferred a terminal degree; Ph.D., JD, MD, DVM, DDS.

GMAT: A GMAT score between 550 – 620 is considered good. The minimum required score is a 465. We do not consider the writing or integrated reasoning sections.

GRE: We consider a 302-308 (old scale: 1100-1200) a good score range; there is no UF mandated minimum GRE score. We do not consider the writing section.

International Applicants
English Proficiency Requirements

International applicants are required to submit English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS/MELAB) scores. For exam minimum scores and exemptions, refer to the English Proficiency Requirements section of the Graduate Application Details.

International applicants who took the GRE must also have scored a verbal section score of 140 or higher.

Interview

International applicants from non-US institutions are interviewed as part of the admissions process. Applicants are reviewed and those qualified applicants who are selected to interview will be invited by email. For those invited to interview, it is considered a mandatory part of the application process.

Diploma and Degree Certification

International applicants must submit a diploma and degree certification, in English and native language. Applicants who have not received their diploma must submit a letter from their institution stating the program of study and expected graduation date.

Policy for 3-Year Bachelor’s Degrees

The UF Office of Admissions will not recognize 3-year bachelor’s degrees from India, Australia, Bangladesh, Canada (excluding Quebec), Nepal and Pakistan. Three-year bachelor’s degrees from other countries are reviewed on an individual basis.

If a 3-year bachelor’s degree is considered not equivalent to a U. S. bachelor’s degree, an applicant has the option to obtain an evaluation from a professional credential evaluation service. If the credential service determines the degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree, the applicant must submit a copy of the credential evaluation report to the department for reconsideration. Credential evaluation reports will be accepted from members of NACES or AACRAO.

Combined Degree

Admission to the combined option is more selective and is considered a “honors” path for high-performing University of Florida students. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

  • 3.2 cumulative UF GPA (listed on top of transcript)
  • Completed 90 credit hours, including AP, IB and dual enrollment, before beginning the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you offer conditional admission?

No. All applicants must apply fully to the MSM program and may not take MSM classes unless they are officially admitted to the program.

Can I defer my admission from one year to another?

A student may defer up to one calendar year from the term that they received admission (e.g. admission to fall 2017 could defer to spring 2018, summer B 2018 or fall 2018). Deferment past one year requires that the applicant re-apply to Graduate School and the MSM program.

I want to apply to the Combined Option. Do the grades from the graduate business courses count towards my undergraduate GPA?

Yes. All graduate business coursework grades taken while an undergraduate will count in your undergraduate GPA. This includes ‘double-counted’ courses taken toward both the bachelor’s/master’s degree as well as courses that are only counting toward the master’s degree.

If I have more than 2 years of work experience, may I still apply to MSM?

Yes. The classroom curriculum, discussions, assignments, and career workshops within the program are tailored to students who have received their Bachelor degrees within the past two years. However, if you have more than 2-3 years of post-bachelor’s degree work experience, we suggest you also research the UF MBA programs. Each application package is reviewed individually and in some cases, MSM is a better fit than MBA. Where the average age of the MSM student is 22-23 years and they have an average of .2 years full-time work experience, the MBA students are, on average, 27 years old and have 3.5 years of significant, full-time, post-bachelor’s degree work experience. The MSM program provides outstanding experiences and a high quality education with the same faculty members who teach in our MBA programs, but the class peer group is distinct from MBA. Also, recruiters who come to UF know that the MBA students have professional experience, so they intentionally target those students for the more advanced, higher-paying jobs.

My GMAT/GRE is low, but I have a strong GPA and other experiences (or a low GPA /high test score). Do I still have a chance for admission?

Yes. We review applications in a holistic manner. The admissions committee will be looking for evidence of academic ability and the applicant’s potential for success in the program.

What if I am not accepted? Can I re-apply?

Yes, you can re-apply. Unless there is a significant change in your application file (e.g. new test scores, updated transcripts, updated resume with additional relevant experience, etc.), the original admission decision will likely be the same.
