DESCRIPTION:Save the Date – registration will be available in October 2026\nFor more than 50 years\, the annual conference has served as a neutral forum for engaging dialogue about issues facing utility service providers\, policymakers and regulatory agencies. \nThe conference is held every February in Gainesville\, and brings government officials\, utility executives\, industry leaders and academia together\, primarily from Florida and the Southeast. \nContinuing Education Credits\nPURC is registered with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation as a provider of continuing professional educations programs. Each year\, we apply for technical business CPE credit for conference sessions\, as well as to the Florida Bar for general CLER credit for Florida law practitioners. \n

DESCRIPTION:How can utilities be benchmarked for efficiency? Which types of comparisons are valid and which are invalid\, possibly leading to significant errors? This advanced infrastructure course answers these questions and more\, as participants (experienced utility professionals) analyze the benefits\, best practices\, and pitfalls of benchmarking utilities. \nUpon completion\, you will be able to: \n\nUnderstand why benchmarking is essential for improving the performance of infrastructure organizations\nAnalyze the implications of partial\, limited\, or incorrect information\nAssess how information on trends in key performance indictors helps decision-makers\nUnderstand how model specification and data outliers affect performance comparisons\nIdentify the strengths and limitations of alternative quantitative methodologies and how to communicate results\n\nThe course will be hosted at the University of Florida – Warrington College of Business.
