EESA Application & Requirements

Student Eligibility & Requirements

The program is only open to graduate and upper level undergraduate students with a 3.0 grade point average or higher. A background in business administration is not required and students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Several of the projects have components that would be appropriate for students with backgrounds in social work, sustainable development, economics, sociology, advertising, accounting, communications, journalism, accounting, information technology, architecture, international relations, or African studies.

The key requirements are personal maturity and responsibility, a high energy level and enjoyment of hard work, a willingness to learn, and a desire to make a difference. Only 25 students can be accommodated in the program and students interested in participating are encouraged to submit their applications early.

The Application Process

For all interested applicants from partner schools, please contact your campus EESA Director:

  • Texas A&M University – Dick Lester
  • University of Colorado – Erick Mueller

For all interested applicants from the University of Florida (and any other university not associated with the partner group listed above), you must complete the application form and essay at the link below. Your essay should focus on motivations for wanting to participate, evidence of work ethic and problem-solving skills, and the special capabilities, knowledge, skills or background that you would bring to the program.

Please complete the application no later than no later than February 1, 2023. Earlier applications are encouraged as interviews are held on a rolling basis and the program fills up. Have your Personal Statement and Resume ready for upload before you begin filling out this form.
