In 2004, I was appointed to develop and promote study abroad programs for the Warrington College of Business. Since then, five unique programs have been established that combine UF electronic platform business courses with live classes held in universities in Madrid, London, Rome, Paris and Dublin. In addition, my office has strengthened exchange student partnerships with 27 leading schools throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and South America. Studying abroad is without a doubt one of the most rewarding experiences available to undergraduate students and my goal is to motivate students to embark on the adventure of a lifetime before graduation.
I realize many students consider leaving Florida a scary proposition fraught with uncertainties. However, once in
a new environment most students gain enormous self-confidence and maturity. Study abroad gives students the opportunity to experience new cultures and meet people with different values and perspectives; enhance their education and enrich their lives immeasurably.
In my life, travel and cultural changes have been constant. I am originally from Cuba and I have been very fortunate to visit many countries in my lifetime. I look forward to many more international adventures in the future.
I am an alumnus of the University of Florida’s department of Telecommunication and before embarking on a career in higher education, I worked in several industries, including publishing, landscaping design and restaurant and hotel management.
I encourage any student curious about studying abroad to meet with me. Schedule an advising appointment by calling 273.0151, or you may reach me by email. I also invite students to use the many study abroad resources available online, such as: the Undergraduate International Study website and the UF International Center website.
