Welcome to the Heavener School of Business here at the University of Florida. I am an Academic and Career Advisor for the UF Online Business Program, advising students whose last names begin with the letters A-F.
I started my career in child welfare while earning my B.A. in Business Administration with a specialization in Management from Saint Leo University (SLU). During this time, I interned in Washington DC for three years before migrating over to Seaside Oregon, for a one-year internship. While in Oregon, I traveled across the United States speaking on child welfare policies and issues. By the end of that internship I begin working with Sony Corporate for a few years while obtaining my MBA degree from Saint Leo University’s online business program. It was at this time where I switched my career once again and begin to work in higher education. I started off as a graduate assistant working with incoming freshmen and transfer students in Saint Leo’s First Year Experience department. In my second year I moved from the main campus to a center location where I took on roles as an academic advisor/recruiter and an adjunct instructor teaching introductory business courses. During the next 4 years with SLU I took the lead working with incoming freshmen, transfer, international, dual-enrollment, and graduate student populations.
I enjoy making sure that students have the services and resources available to them throughout their journey as they look to create positive self-development for themselves academically and professionally throughout their life. My mantra is, “a successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.” In other words, no matter what the challenges are that you face, you can overcome them by putting in the time and effort to create success for yourself. It is an honor and a privilege to work with you during this time as you pursue your degree! I wish you much success and please note that we will be working together throughout this journey as you work to obtain your degree. I look forward to seeing you walk across that stage during the commencement ceremony. Please feel free to reach out to by email or call me at 352-273-0165 with any questions comments or concerns that you may have!
