Information For

Warrington and the University of Florida will continue to track the local and global health situation throughout the spring semester. Please continue to monitor the University of Florida’s coronavirus website for timely information about university status.

We encourage students to speak with recruiting officers, program directors, and other support staff to learn more about program-specific information. This site serves as a central guide to Warrington’s plans.

Spring 2021 Undergraduate Students

Undergraduate class delivery will be a hybrid between live and online for the spring semester. However, Heavener understands the importance of the student experience and will work hard to maintain and strengthen key out-of-classroom experiences for our students. We will also be closely monitoring the local and global health situation while constantly evaluating our plans.

There are many Heavener and UF resources still available to students throughout the semester.

Advising

All academic, career and study abroad advising appointments will be delivered in a virtual format.

There are three ways to connect with an Academic & Career Advisor:

Virtual drop-in advising: Use this method to have a same-day, 5-10 minute virtual meeting (via Zoom) with an Academic & Career Advisor. Possible topics include: questions about your degree requirements, one-semester academic plans, choosing your classes, or assistance with registration.

Virtual advising appointment: Use this method to have a 30-minute virtual meeting (via Zoom) with an Academic & Career Advisor. During peak times (e.g., drop/add), appointments are only available for students on probation or students who want to change into a major within the Heavener School of Business.

Email advising: Send us an email to receive specific feedback related to your inquiry within 1-2 business days without having to schedule a meeting with an Academic & Career Advisor.

Business Career Services

All students will receive notification of Virtual Coaching and Services options via Zoom from their assigned Career Coach.

Learn more about how students will interact with our Business Career Services office this fall.

Student Activities

Career and Leadership programs, Business Career Services, Business College Council and student organization activities will be conducted remotely at this time. We will continue to closely monitor the local and global health situation while constantly evaluating our plans for student engagement. We do fully encourage and support Zoom meetings, and we encourage student groups and organizations to explore meeting options in other facilities on campus, such as the Reitz Union.

International Programs

Please direct all study abroad advising questions to the Heavener International Programs office. Messages should be sent from your UF GatorLink account and include your UFID and specific questions. We anticipate a response rate of 1-2 business days. In the event a Zoom appointment with an advisor is necessary, an advisor will set up a meeting via email.

Students can call International Programs for general questions at: 352-273-0151

Career and Leadership Programs

Heavener’s Career and Leadership Programs (CLP), such as BUMP, Enactus, FLA and HLC will all be fully operational and engaged with students this spring. Our CLP team and student leaders are ready to provide an exceptional learning and community building experience virtually in the fall.

The CLP team will also continue to evaluate what is possible in terms of program delivery, with the safety of our students, student leaders and staff being the top priority. Students can reach out to Lisa D’Souza for questions and information.

Spring 2021 Accounting Students

The Fisher School of Accounting will offer both online and face-to-face classes this semester. More information on course formats for individual sections can be found on our website for the BSAc and for the MAcc.

Gerson Hall and Study Space

Beginning January 11, the front doors of Gerson Hall will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays for students to access face-to-face classes. The J. Michael Cook/Deloitte Student Commons and the Graduate Mail Room will remain locked. The 2nd floor Break Out Rooms will be available to MAcc students and officers of Beta Alpha Psi and FSOA Council, but only one student at a time may be present in them. Violation of this requirement will result in the students being reported to Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution, and potential closing of all Break Out Rooms.

Advising

All academic advising will continue to be handled virtually, primarily via the Zoom video conferencing app, and via phone when necessary. To schedule an appointment with an advisor, send an email to the address below and someone will contact you soon. For quick questions, you may email your advisor directly. Depending on your question, you may get a response indicating an appointment is necessary.

If you have a form that needs to be signed, you can email it to your advisor, or to the email address below. Please note that it’s very difficult to work with “scans” of documents that are saved as images (.jpg, .gif, etc.). If you don’t have a scanner or a scanning app, try the Notes app on iPhone or the Adobe Scan app, which allows you to take photos of documents, turn them into pdfs, and email them. You can adjust the borders, and scan multiple pages into one document. Note that some forms may require an appointment with an advisor, and in general forms may take a few business days to return.

Contact Information

At this time, emailing the Fisher School of Accounting is the preferred method of contact.

Use your GatorLink email. Please remember that due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss a student’s academic situation via any email account other than the student’s official UF GatorLink email address. Please be sure to email us only from that address.

Note, we will not have a person answering at (352) 273-0200, but will be monitoring voicemails regularly during business hours. If you call, be prepared to leave a succinct message stating what you need, your name and UFID#, and a good phone number to reach you. We will respond as soon as possible. Note that because many people do not answer their phones when we call them back, emailing is a much better way to get in touch with us.

Please continue to check your GatorLink email for updates from UF, the Fisher School and your instructors.
