Devon Grimmé (MBA ’14)

Prometheon Pharma, where Devon serves as Director of Business Development, won the $10,000 grand prize in the MIT-CHIEF Business Plan Contest in Boston. The global health company has created a platform technology to allow large molecule drugs like insulin to pass through the skin. The patch could eliminate the need for needles for diabetes patients.

Alex Setzer (MBA ’11)

Alex was selected to the Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 issue. Alex is a Partner at Southern Strategy Group’s Orlando office and is Chairman of Seminole State College of Florida’s District Board of Trustees.

Nick Banks (BSBA ’90) and Juan Segarra (BABA ’02)

Nick and Juan were both honored at the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce 2014 Business of the Year Awards. Nick is the Managing Director of Front Street Commercial Real Estate Group, which was named “Best Overall Small Business.” Juan is the President & CEO of Foresight Construction Group, which was named “Best Minority Business.”

David (Houyu) Wang (MBA ’95)

David is the Chief Operations Officer at Standard Fiber LLC, a global home bedding supplier. The company’s products are in major U.S. retail stores with manufacturing based in China, India and Pakistan. David sends his best wishes to all his classmates and faculty.

Dara Simon (BSAc ’94)

Dara was admitted to Cherry Bekaert’s Partner group effective November 1. She is based out of the firm’s Tampa office, and was recently appointed to the Fisher School of Accounting’s Advisory Board.

Michael Balter (BSAc ’88)

Michael was named Partner-in-Charge, Florida Region of Marcum LLP—one of the nation’s largest independent public accounting and advisory services. He has more than 25 years of client service experience, and has worked extensively in the construction, manufacturing, distribution and service industries.

Charlie Fitzgerald III (BSBA ’83)

Charlie was recently selected to serve a four-year term on the Board of Directors for Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., beginning Jan. 1, 2015. He is a principal and founding member of Moisand Fitzgerald Tamayo, LLC, a financial planning and wealth management firm in Orlando. Charlie credits Dr. Roy Crum, Emeritus Professor of Finance, for his helpful mentoring during Charlie’s senior year.

Richard Johnston Jr. (BSBA ’79, JD ’81)

Richard is a Partner in the law firm Johnston Champeau, which has offices in Fort Myers and Naples. He may be best known to Gator football fans as “Mr. Orange and Blue” as he led Gator fans in pre-game cheers for 31 consecutive seasons. Richard’s last game as the Gators’ on-field cheerleader was Nov. 15 against South Carolina.
