Sydney is the most populous city in Australia with approximately 5 million residents. Because the city is close to the ocean, temperatures are moderate. The warmest month of the year is January with an average temperature of 80 degrees (Fahrenheit). The Sydney Harbour is home to the iconic Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. Sydney's coastline is part of the annual humpback whales migration path from Antarctica to the Coral Sea and during mid-May to early December whales are often seen in coastal waters and on some rare occasions even in Sydney Harbour itself.
